With all the shenanigans from the PSAs the past week, it is taking a bit more effort than usual to summarize for Point and Laugh Friday, so I’m going to highlight a few quotes from some PSAs as they attempt to explain their hypocrisy to some fence sitters and anti-slaughter people. Consider it a teaser for Point and Laugh Friday.
On a new social networking page, a question was posed about why some people are pro-slaughter yet admit they would never send a horse of their own to that fate. It’s a question I’ve been asking for about as long as this has been an issue because I truly don’t understand that mindset either. Surely if a person truly believes that slaughter is a form of humane euthanasia, then they would go that route rather than pay out-of-pocket for what they are saying is the same thing or worse. And surely, those logical thinking PSAs would not make a pet out of an animal they consider to be livestock! Well folks, guess again, the reasons they give will make you shake your head worse than a dashboard hula girl’s hips on a gravel road…..
“I guess mine would be emotional attachment when it comes down to it. I guess that falls into the “value” category just as much as the price tag does. Yes, my horse is better than most of the trash horses that go to slaughter.”
Oh no, this person did NOT just say that!!! I wonder what this compassionate soul thinks about poor people or third world countries. I could do a feature every day for a year on `treasures’ that were rescued from slaughter and still not put a dent in the number of all the good horses that become priceless to those who love them after they have been rescued from slaughter. You know what they say about one man’s trash…..
“I will come out and say that not only do I support slaughter but have shipped horses to kill plants. I have sold a number of crippled, foundered and down right nasty horses to the slaughter house and will not feel bad about it. The quality of life for most of them was miserable and only going to get worse so I do not feel bad about ending it.”
How was the `quality of life’ for the crippled and foundered horses you put on an overcrowded trailer for the long ride to their execution? How long did they have to hobble around a crowded pen while `nasty’ horses kicked and bit them fighting over some moldy hay? This person needs to be shot with a ball of her own shit. Repeatedly…
“and thats is great and your option , just wish everybody had an option a humane option and a humane slaughtr being one of them , there has to be a way of doing it peacefully , every person who believes in slaughter isnt a barbarian , if the killer was a skilled trade instead of hiring a heartless basterd who has no feeling for life it could be better”
There is no way to make commercial slaughter humane. NONE. I also have a newsflash for this person. Only a heartless bastard could spend day in and day out killing frightened animals. Even if they began having a `feeling for life’, it is a documented fact that they become desensitized and numb. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if `heartless bastard’ wasn’t a job qualification for working in a slaughter-house.
“What I want to know, is WHY is cutting their throat so cruel, that is a viable way to kill something, go tell that big cat that the death clamp, and severing the artery is an inhumane way to kill that antelope they just caught. someone go tell the african goat herders, the indian water buffalo eaters ect ect ect, that cutting the artery is not an acceptable way to kill an animal. And they dont do it the favor of rendering it insensible before doing it!
Go ahead screenshot this ya morons! Copying somones words without permission or citation is ILLEGAL!”
Ok, since she said permission OR citation…this comment was made by Maria Borkowski. She thinks slitting the throats of conscious and aware animals is just fine because that’s how cougars and other big cats do it. I’m not even sure there is a word in the dictionary to fully describe how ignorant and stupid this person is. She could be the poster child for mandatory sterilization though, so that just goes to prove that everything or everybody has their purpose.
“I am not pro, but my reason comes back to pro choice. I feel that people should be able to do what they wish with their horses. If someone had a viable horse and chose to euthanize it by injection or bullet in their back 40 I wouldn’t have an issue. So if they chose to send it to slaughter, i feel it’s their choice, not mine and I do not have a right to make that choice for them”
With this logic, that means Michael Vick did nothing wrong when he was fighting dogs and torturing them because they were HIS. Owning a horse or any other animal is not a right and with it comes responsibility. There are laws in place that say you cannot mistreat or torture any animal whether you own it or not. This answer is one I see all the time and it’s nothing but a big cop-out.
Now you all know why I don’t join these conversations on social networking sites. It’s frustrating and it makes me dislike humanity in general. Do you know what I saw one of the louder asswipes post on another site? “I made the suggestion that the Antis VOLUNTEER at the slaughter houses, to ENSURE quality treatment and humane handling. They said “I’m against it, WHY WOULD I WANT TO SUBJECT MYSELF TO THAT KIND OF MENTAL ABUSE.” So you are unwilling to sacrifice your comfort for the comfort of horses? Some anti you are….” I don’t think this was entirely being sarcastic for this person given how moronic some of her other suggestions are. This is why you can’t fix stupid. You can just point and laugh and we’re going to be doing a lot of that tomorrow…..
