I guess we shouldn’t really be all that surprised that with the news of inspections being granted to horse slaughter facilities, that the United Horseturds are busy stomping their hooves in what passes for a victory dance.  You don’t have to surf around online very far to encounter one of the usual suspects gloating and smacking their lips at the prospect of the carnage that may be about to rain down on our beloved equine friends.  The interesting thing is that it’s always the same bunch of asstards doing the crowing.  Far greater numbers are upset about this puzzling move by the USDA.  Extrapolate that out and you’ll get an idea on how the public in general feel about the prospect of domestic slaughter reopening for business.  Basic math has never been a strong suit of your average PSA though.   Let’s take a boo at the idiocy that has erupted overnight and remind ourselves exactly what kind of `person’ it takes to be happy about this.

Not surprisingly, one of the loudest cackles has come from none other than Holy Mother Theresa Manzella, everybody’s favorite horse slaughtering wannabe rescuer.  She’s had quite a bit to say today…

“Well I’ll be! After years of fierce fighting and death threats, common sense and the horse industry has prevailed!!! Soooo thankful to Sue Wallis, Rep from Wy, and Dave Duquette of United Horsemen and Mindy Patterson of the Calvary Group for leading this long and successful charge. I’m still a bit in disbelief! It’s sure to be a wild rodeo, but for the moment at least, horse welfare and values will be restored.”

– Yup, I’m sure the cost of horses is going to skyrocket next week and the economy is going to magically turn around and once again the streams will run with milk and honey all because we are now slaughtering, for consumption, animals that were not raised to be food.  YAY!

“You’re on the wrong page to find anyone who agrees with you here. You might want to go to sign up for further brainwashing with the animal rights movement, because that’s EXACTLY what you are if you feel that way. FACTS: Horse values are down by at least 20% (many of us in the business would say they are down much further than that) and neglect is UP 60% since the cessation of humane horse harvesting. Horses are still being harvested, just not within our boarders where we can control it. Horses are private property and by eliminating their intrinsic value (price per pound) the animal rights movement has only HARMED horse welfare. Don’t bother arguing or getting ugly on my page, I’ll simply block you. These are the facts and until you’re ready to buy and maintain all the unwanted horses, you need to get grounded in reality.”

– Nice to see Holy Theresa has gone the way of Mendy Tobiano and elected to pull her statistics out of her ass.  This recently released report from the Equine Welfare Alliance pretty much debunks her assertion on neglect being tied to lack of slaughter (http://www.equinewelfarealliance.org/uploads/Study_of_Equine_Abuse.pdf).  As far as their `intrinsic’ value being their price per pound, I have no idea what kind of horses she’s messing with, but I know the value of most horses is and should be based on quality.  As far as her refusing any rebuttals, I just have this image in my mind of her with her fingers in her ears going `lalalala I can’t hear you’.  The truth is most inconvenient to the ignorant….

“Well then, if you’re not brainwashed, you’re very uninformed. Horses are LIVESTOCK….NOT PETS. And if you think they are pets to all people, you’re brainwashed. The beauty of having them as livestock is that if you want to make them into pets, that’s YOUR business as the LIVESTOCK PROPERTY OWNER. But you don’t get to dictate what the rest of us do with our livestock.”

–  I think Holy Theresa may want to shut her yap before she talks too much about `property’ and what you can do with it.  We’ve talked about it quite a bit on this blog (https://shedrowconfessions.wordpress.com/2012/07/24/a-little-lesson-on-anatomy-and-the-english-language/).  We also know that Oregon doesn’t exactly agree that horses are strictly `property’ either (https://shedrowconfessions.wordpress.com/2012/08/04/great-news-from-oregon-property-rights-and-horses/).  It’s ok, Holy One, I don’t expect you to back up your talk with actual facts….

“I’m a professional horse breeder and trainer and have been for over 20 years. I deal in high quality stock. It’s MY BUSINESS. It’s my LIVELY HOOD. And I take it very seriously. Again, get informed before you go jumping to uninformed conclusions and regurgitating AR rhetoric. REALITY is that breeding is DOWN 70% over the last 10 years. Obviously, you’ve been misinformed.”

– I pretty much spewed all over my screen with this statement.  Professional breeder of high quality stock?  In what alternate reality is that true?  The fact is that Holy Theresa does not make a living off breeding animals at all.  Just ask her husband that is never home.  Although maybe she was actually trying to tell us that the `hood’ she lives in is lively?  Hard to tell with her spelling…Wanna see her `high quality stock’?

Stump neck, back at the knee, flat footed mess...

Stump neck, back at the knee, sickle hocked, flat footed mess…She’s leaving this one with his nuts…

Behold the magical sausage horse!

Behold the magical sausage horse!

And BTW, I also run a horse rescue and re-homing project to keep as many of them out of harms way as I possibly can. I’ve re-homed 140 unwanted horses over the past 4 years. How many have you taken responsibility for?”

– Quite the little rant she’s having, huh?  Her rescue that refuses to help people in actual need and reserves the right to ship to slaughter….I wonder how accurate that number of 140 is and how many found their new homes on a dinner plate or a pet food bowl?  Things that make you go hmmmm…

Quit exposing stupid animal rights rhetoric on my page then! We don’t MURDER animals…we harvest them.I love animals more than most, but they don’t get equal rights…or equal value to PEOPLE.”

– I’m not sure that loving the taste of animals qualifies you as an animal lover.  We’ll get to the `harvest’ thing next…

“…GET INFORMED! Look up the definition in the dictionary. har·vest (härvst)
1. The act or process of gathering a crop.
a. The crop that ripens or is gathered in a season.
b. The amount or measure of the crop gathered in a season.
c. The time or season of such gathering.
3. The result or consequence of an activity.
v. har·vest·ed, har·vest·ing, har·vests
a. To gather (a crop).
b. To take or kill (fish or deer, for example) for food, sport, or population control.
c. To extract from a culture or a living or recently deceased body, especially for transplantation: harvested bone marrow.
2. To gather a crop from.
3. To receive (the benefits or consequences of an action). See Synonyms at reap.
To gather a crop.”

– She keeps busting out caps, so we know she’s serious.  I suppose serial killers can use the `harvest’ defense too by her definition?

We all have opinions. Mine just happens to come from a life time of experience and I’ve spent the last five years in the trenches saving as many horses from starvation as I possibly can. I also can see the BIG picture and understand that the animal rights movement seeks to eliminate ALL animal agriculture and animal ownership and you’d be well served to 1) Know the facts 2) learn how to spell.”

– OMG, did Miss `Lively Hood’, just give a spelling lesson?  LMAO!!!!  The only thing she has a lifetime of experience in is being self-righteous and ignorant, although being a bottom feeder in the horse industry probably does mean she has spent her fair share of time in the gutter even if she wants to gild the lily and refer to it as being `in the trenches’.  She goes on to bust out the same tired 20yr old quotes taken out context and further scold the person calling her on her shit.  Y’all know the drill by now….

Naturally, no good horse slaughter discussion is complete with Slaughterhouse Sue chiming in, although she really gave a poor effort today.  I have to admit I’m a bit disappointed in her…

Hey folks, I’m a little late to this party, (been working like crazy, but man it feels good to be on such a positive trajectory for a change) and deeply appreciate the strong and lucid articulation of the situation we’ve been battling here…but, as is my standard policy on my facebook page, I own it, and I don’t put up with people who are disrespectful to either myself or others. Period. End of story. And in keeping with that I have blocked XXXXXX permanently. Thanks again.”

– Holy Theresa and D-bag Duquette are `lucid’ and `articulate’?  Clearly, these people have been drinking non-stop since yesterday and are all drunk and even more delusional than normal.  BTW, `disrespectful’ to Suey, means you don’t blindly agree with her.  Nobody was actually the least bit disrespectful beyond disagreeing with her and her butt monkeys.

Speaking of butt monkeys, D-bag issued another press release, no doubt ghostwritten yet again (http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Hang-on-to-your-hats–corrected-link.html?soid=1112812195452&aid=uVmx_xxroo4).   He provides a link for the declined petition the HSUS filed back in April.  We’ll look at that mess another day, because there is all kinds of wrong in it, but it’s there for your perusal now.  There are a few other statements he has made that need a closer look.

“These facilities now have the opportunity to demonstrate that horses can be processed humanely. Testing protocols will debunk the myth perpetuated by the animal rights groups that horse meat is unsafe for consumption.”

Since they think every single anti-slaughter person should take responsibility for neglected and abused horses nationwide, am I safe to assume that every single PSA will be pulling a shift in the new slaughter-houses to ensure that each and every horse is handled humanely from beginning to end and that each and every carcass is tested?  I think that sounds fair…

“However, this battle is far from over. Our next challenge will be to ensure these humane processing facilities remain open for business, which is a significant part of our overall mission to defend the welfare of horses and the well-being of the horse industry.”

– Actually D-bag, your next challenge is the same one you have been dealing with since inspections were reinstated in 2011 and that would be to actually get one of these torture chambers up and running.  This is far from a done deal.

To those who oppose horse processing, I pose a question: what is your solution to the unwanted horse crisis? Those who oppose horse processing have had six years since the original plant closure to come up with solutions. The suffering of horses has only intensified during that time. “

– As long as we have PSA assholes breeding and owning horses, we are always going to have horses in crisis and we will continue to deal with them and save them one horse at a time.  However, I’d far rather my tax dollars go towards subsidizing euthanasia and gelding clinics than inspecting toxic meat that the majority of the public does not want.  Prior to 2007 you had decades and decades of horse slaughter and there was still abuse, neglect and horses in crisis.  My question to D-bag is: What will be different this time around?

Obviously many of you are very upset about recent developments.  It’s unthinkable and scary on a lot of different levels.  With slaughter available in this country, no horse will ever be really safe as thefts tend to rise and shorter trips to the slaughter facilities give you even less time for intervention.  It’s a barbaric and ruthless industry.  Call a horse a pet or livestock, but the fact remains the only reason they are so lucrative to slaughter is that they are not raised as food animals.  The feed to weight conversion of raising a horse specifically for slaughter at a profit isn’t really doable given the cost of feed, so it truly is a lot like scraping up roadkill.  Unlike pork, cattle and poultry, there is no current way of tracing horses from birth to the plate and there likely never will be.  That would require the cooperation of the vast majority that don’t view our horses as food sources and they’ll never get that.  The profits from this industry will be headed directly overseas with their carcasses and the towns hosting the slaughter-houses will suffer economically.  Dead horses don’t require tack, feed, veterinarians, and countless other things that are a huge part of the horse industry.  Are we going to have meat shows for the slaughtered carcasses now?  Go out and hug your horses this weekend and then get busy on Monday.  Call, write and educate people what we may be in for.  Let your reps know this is not where you want your tax dollars going and that we won’t tolerate this.  It’s not over and it’s not a done deal.

Well, this sucks…..

As most of you are aware, some bad news came down the pike today.  Mainly, the USDA has granted horse meat inspections to Valley Meats of Roswell, NM.  Further, the word is they will be announcing next week that inspections will be also be granted in Iowa and Missouri. It is reported there are at least six applications for inspections on file with the USDA at this time.   Not coincidentally, today was the deadline for the litigation that courts has set for the USDA to respond to pending litigation regarding their lack of inspections.  (http://www.equinewelfarealliance.org/uploads/USDA_Inspections.pdf).  Nationwide, horse eaters are flicking their collective beans in eager anticipation of the mass execution and suffering of our equine friends.  Like I said, it’s not good news, but it isn’t exactly a fait accompli just yet, so I thought we should take a closer look at what this all means.

From what I can understand, the USDA had their back to the wall on the issue.  With the funding part of the current budget, they have no legal way of denying inspections for the time being.  The statement from USDA spokesman, Courtney Rowe, was:

Since Congress has not yet acted to ban horse slaughter inspection, FSIS is legally required to issue a grant of inspection today to Valley Meats in Roswell, N.M. for equine slaughter,” Rowe said. “The administration has requested Congress to reinstate the ban on horse slaughter. Until Congress acts, the department must continue to comply with current law.”

This is despite the fact that the House and Senate appropriations committees both have passed budget amendments to the 2014 USDA budget that will prohibit funding of horse meat inspections. If the USDA budget in the House and Senate receives a vote, it is expected to pass in both chambers.   In addition, the Obama administration and Secretary Vilsak have requested horse meat inspections not be funded.  This would effectively end slaughter in the US once again, but would not come into effect until the end of October which would still leave 3 to 4 months of slaughter on home soil.  I have to question the business sense of anybody opening a slaughter-house for horses right now with this looming, but I’ve also never really understood the mindset of the slaughterphiles nor have I ever accused them of being all that intelligent.  A prime example of this would be the gleeful press release from Slaughterhouse Sue and IEBA today. (http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?llr=6oijm7dab&v=001jZ0SncZoWrM8uOlSl8V4SBsud4cTaC6j3w3oclxO-IyOL69TCBM_pDGK__J5b_DR_jQm9EyvJuoTenpzTzS5n-H6uvpM6iq99ksHsntqWJ7rMYJNNmE3lvKsbcck8v5sAixv_Liq9zkhlrPqpH-DdjzGsf-klyXkAuzhUOFW7MGSjiGB6mx4qVUwniYhXmRMBWJCnidY3HBofsEqibrRlLm4Pfq-7W9ARWUPpjbm5W2IyzbzG_qZwvIvW6l6QLMPj4cKNSzbrRfwq81wk67W6Mv1gFZ6pMe6w8FxQ0P-wBdSxVcgEOLvycn7Uco5iP3OG5sazjEBzmGsxKr3SJb0oph5cOPaarWtkn4kgat5ZATfzbs2cP84dPksVSrWXaAqbrsnezX3F6_yMOr9TyC7q0S_V2JdIIzvd1w2woAGuJzVMdSfkNWLGLPo63wG8U342TX-XNf1ysA%3D&id=preview). She basically does a victory dance at the prospect of killing all these horses with this rather exaggerated statement: “The majority of the overall equine industry and the horse people of America are celebrating today the announcement that the option of humane and responsible horse processing under federal oversight has finally been granted. ”  Keep celebrating, Suey.  This ain’t a done deal yet…

Now that we’ve heard the bad news, let’s shine a ray of hope on the situation.  The HSUS was quite swift in addressing this news today and it would seem there will more than a few hurdles before slaughter happens.  (http://www.humanesociety.org/news/press_releases/2013/06/usda-horse-slaughter-suit-062813.html).  The HSUS and Front Range Equine Rescue(http://www.frontrangeequinerescue.org/) plan to immediately file a lawsuit against the USDA to reverse this decision.  Both groups had informed the USDA in the past that they planned aggressive legal action surrounding the unresolved environmental and food safety concerns with re-opening these plants.  Slaughterhouse Suey and D-bag Duquette have always whined an sniffled about the anti-slaughter people’s deep pockets and I have a feeling they are about to see just how deep those pockets are.

Valley Meats won’t be opening for slaughter next week.  They still have to receive a water discharge permit and there is some question about additional permits.  The New Mexico Environmental Department is expected to hold a public hearing within the next 30 days in regards to the discharge permit.  I suspect this meeting may be well attended by the anti slaughter side of things.  Also, there is still no identification and traceability program in place that is in compliance with EU regulations and as far as we know, our toxic horse meat is still banned by all EU countries (https://shedrowconfessions.wordpress.com/2013/03/21/now-for-some-good-news/) so I’m not entirely sure where they plan to offload all this toxic waste.

I’m going to leave some links at the end of this post with some additional information and contacts.  Make the calls and make your voices heard by those who matter.  We can go back and forth online with Slaughterhouse Suey all day, but realize she is a politician given to exaggeration and outright lying to prop up her weak position.  In her release today she stated : “…the majority of people who are in the horse business, who actually make some part of their living by raising, training, or otherwise using horses for the benefit of themselves, their families, and communities, this welcome news is long in coming. Finally, we can look forward to a positive outcome where every horse has value, is treated humanely from birth to death. When their highest, best use is to be turned into food for a very willing and eager market, horse people generally agree that is best accomplished in small state-of-the-art facilities, such as Valley Meats, that are designed for the purpose, manned by trained professionals, under the watchful and rigorous inspection of the USDA – Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) for both food safety and humane handling. IEBA members have instituted systems that go far beyond FSIS requirements to ensure that no contaminated cheval (horse meat) ever enters the food system, and that all horses are treated right at every point. “ How dare this horse hating cretin speak for the majority of the horse business?  I am `industry’ and I certainly don’t remember there being any vote or mention of her being my spokesperson nor does the true majority of the industry.  This is and never has been about the welfare of horses.  This is strictly about money and eating animals not raised specifically for food is on par with eating roadkill. The real horse industry disgusted by this pustulous boil of a woman we can’t seem to rid ourselves of and maybe, just maybe things have finally come to a head and we can lance her once and for all.  Let’s get busy, the clock is running down.  To quote one of Suey’s most favorite ass barnacles, Douchebag Duquette, `Stay strong and stay the course’…..

While I was MIA for the past little while, I have to admit I was more than a little lax in keeping up with our PSAs.  A break is a break, right?  So, I’ve finally finished wading through my emails (thank you, everybody) and, as a result, decided we should recap what’s up in the land of the horse haters.  Rather than wait for Friday to point and laugh at the usual suspects, I thought we would just get right down to it now in case my ADD flares up again this weekend as I suspect it might.  At least we can count on one constant from our PSA pals and that is that fuckery will always abound.  So, pull up a chair and settle in, because we have quite a bit of ground to cover.

fuckerySticking with tradition, I thought it would be appropriate to kick things off with the matriarch of the horse haters, Slaughterhouse Suey.  I’ve seen several comments about her lying low and even some hoping she had focused her beady eyes elsewhere besides the mass consumption of our equine friends.  No such luck.  As we discussed a few days ago, she has been busy trying to brainstorm her way around commercial slaughter by creating a co-op situation for horse meat.  She is also still bound and determined to shove horse meat down the throats of school children and poor people.  I would state the obvious problem with her plan by pointing out that force feeding adulterated meat to the less fortunate is verging on human rights violations, but I suspect she has found her way around that too.  It’s widely known that her family breeds Haflinger and Belgians, so probably not  huge stretch to imagine that they don’t get the benefit of vet care or deworming programs….Voila!  A ready source of unadulterated meat!  I’m still waiting for Suey to tell us how it is going to help the horse industry or address all these unwanted and neglected horses she was so concerned about, but I’m also still waiting for her to respond to my offer of a debate I made several months ago when she was whining about how we were all liars and hiding from her.  Good thing I’m not big on holding my breath.  Other than that, Suey has been keeping busy traveling around on the taxpayer dollar and writing really bad poetry.   Don’t believe me?  Here is a little video of one of her old poems  featuring what is rumored to be her and her late husband many moons and pies ago.  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU9k_ceAY9M)  Maybe don’t watch it on a full stomach.  The one thing Suey hasn’t been doing is admitting defeat or even acknowledging the death throes of equine slaughter in the US.

Since we know that Suey likes to jump ship and `turtle’ when the going gets rough, it has fallen to Douchebag Duquette to try to keep The United Horseturd Organization going.  If you recall, earlier this year the UH loyalists were all doing a premature victory dance over the legalization of horse slaughter in Oklahoma and crowing about their huge support and turn out in that state.   I’m not sure if it was an oversight or complete ignorance that he never mentioned that the SAFE Act was introduced in DC the very same day as his rally and not only was that well supported, it’s still in play.   This was all around the time of D-bags media blitz that provided us so much amusement and fodder for this blog.  Good ole days for sure….*single tear*.  Since that time it has become nearly impossible for the United Horseturd faction to continue to delude themselves that they were in the majority and spoke for the entire horse industry.  Notice how I said `nearly’, because the ignorance is strong within those types.  However, this past week saw D-bag all but wave the white flag and admit they were “in a tight spot”, but still in the trenches.  I guess, on second thought, those were just his skid marked tighty whities he was waving because he’s still asking people to sign up and send money.  I have no idea what your membership in the UH will buy you right about now other than allowing you to be a card-carrying member of the horse eating club (http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Stay-Strong-and-Stay-the-Course.html?soid=1112812195452&aid=h_kiiPOeoko).  One thing we know that D-bag hasn’t been doing is having much to do with horses or his state reined cow horse association.  Not only is he no longer the president, he is no longer on the board at all or in attendance at recent meetings.  Read into that what you will, but perhaps cultivating impressive chin pubes is far more time-consuming than any of us imagined.

Moving right along to Holy Mother Theresa Manzella……She’s been a busy little horse hater over the past few months.  Probably her biggest `news’ is that she has thrown her hat into the ring  to run for the Montana House of Representatives next year.  Apparently, God told her to do this or something and she is no longer content to just thump her bible, but wants the opportunity to beat everybody in her district over the head with it.  (http://www.ravallirepublic.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/article_e9c08eb6-d3cb-11e2-b21d-001a4bcf887a.html).  One of her biggest concerns is being confused as a moderate.  That statement alone caused me to spew coffee all over my keyboard.  I guess she will represent her district well as long as it is infested with bigoted, white rednecks because she basically hates anybody else.  She pitched a fit today with  DOMA getting struck down by the Supreme Court today and  saying she is outraged in an understatement.  I guess the term `all God’s children’ only applies to his white, heterosexual ones in Holy Theresa’s version of reality.  To be honest, I don’t even want to debate something like this on here beyond using it to illustrate how close minded and hateful she really is.  I think we should show some sympathy for Holy Theresa though….it can’t be easy never getting your own way and being so angry all the time.  At least she hasn’t been busy rescuing horses for slaughter and for that I think we can all be thankful!

The Energizer Bunny of Suey’s foot soldiers has always been Mindy `Puppymill’ Patterson.  Unlike her counterparts in horse hating, she is not to be distracted by shiny objects and keeps her focus on fighting against animal welfare on all fronts.  Her current pet projects (pun intended) are fighting for the right to operate puppy mills (again) and to sore and abuse gaited horses (still).  Of course, she lays all this on the doorstep of Wayne Pacelle for some reason.  Yes, the HUMANE Society does lobby for humane treatment of animals.  I’m not really sure why this is a hard concept to grasp for Puppymill Patterson and D-bag Duquette and why they take it all so personally.  I guess it doesn’t occur to either one of them that if nobody felt the same way, he wouldn’t still have his job.  I know I have said this before, but I really do think Pacelle has spurned her advances at some point and that is why she will fight anything he supports at all costs.  As per usual, Puppymill is running around like Chicken Little claiming that if Americans are not allowed to operate puppy mills and abuse horses, millions of jobs will be lost and the economy will be in further trouble.  In fact, she states that if H.R 1518 is passed, it will wipe out the entire Tennessee Walking Horse industry. I guess she’s not aware that there is already a movement within that industry that supports flat shod horses and they are just as beautiful without the abuse.  Business as usual for Puppymill Patterson…

Mindy `Puppymill' Patterson

Mindy `Puppymill’ Patterson

Now that we have covered our more prominent horse haters, I thought it would be fun to check in with some former Sunday PSAs. As you may recall, Devorah was busted for neglect again.  Of course, it wasn’t her fault and she is being targeted despite the fact that it keeps happening no matter where she moves her hoard.  She still has horses and still has foals dropping on the ground, but will not be getting her seized animals back including the two stallions (now geldings) that were in deplorable condition.  As a result, she is sicking Jesus on everybody responsible:

“They were siezed by fraud. Starved by the DA for a full month to strengthen her case, perjury committed on the stand by a sherrifs deputy and in wrongful possession by you. I decree in the Name of Jesus Christ that the days of your pride and prosperity have come to an end. No weapon formed against me shall prosper and every tongue which rises up against me in judgment I shall condemn. The more you rise up against me the more you will hinder your own propserity. Touch not mine annointed and do my prophets no harm. God uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.”

Perhaps one of the more amusing updates to do with our Sunday PSAs comes courtesy of Andi `Buckaroo’ Harmon and Jes `Vajayjay’ Sothern.  If you recall, both of these women have been rather vocal in their support of slaughter and have gotten downright nasty on some debate pages.  They, like so many other PSAs, operate under the ego bloated assumption that you aren’t a `real’ horseman if you don’t support slaughter.  Well, it seems the ladies who like to harass non-slaughter supporting rescues have banded together to start their own Mustang Rescue.  They state they are applying for their non-profit status as well.  This rescue is specifically for BLM branded Mustangs.  Now, I have no problem with rescues that focus on a certain breed of horse at all, but these were two people that jumped in the fray of slagging off other rescues that chose to do the same.  I don’t see the difference between a mustang only rescue and a black horse only rescue.  However, not every horse rescued is the same when the rescue in question supports slaughter.  As we know that BLM brand means nothing once the animal ships out of the country.  They have been rather vague about their mandate so far and other than listing a few `at risk’ horses, I’m not sure if they have actually rescued anything or not.  Maybe they are looking to be a non-profit broker service.  It should be interesting to see how it all plays out or if it goes the way as a few of the other non-profits these PSAs have tried to make fly in the past.  Considering both of these ladies hail from Oregon, I’m sure there is much outrage that yesterday The House voted 57 -1 to ban horse tripping in their home state and that bill now goes to Senate with overwhelming support (http://www.katu.com/news/local/Oregon-House-passes-bill-banning-horse-tripping-213033251.html).  I guess them and the rest of the buckaroo buttholes will have get their jollies some other way in the near future.  Way to go Oregon!

Jes `Vajajay' Sothern

I bet y’all are thinking I’ve forgotten all about Mendy Tobiano, don’t you?  I wish that was the case.  Thankfully, since she harvests this blog for many of her ideas, she has been relatively quiet in my absence.  I do apologize in advance for awakening the beast from her Dorito hangover as she has already assured us she has been `on the road’ (isn’t that my usual excuse?) and getting ready to unleash her blogging prowess on her three readers in the near future.  She is going to edumacate everybody on EIA just as soon as Wikipedia updates their information on that.  Is this maybe the huge blog she has threatened to write for so many months that left her swamped in research?  Other than that, it’s business as usual for the gender confused pony as a little birdie assures me she still has both feet firmly planted in dramaland and may even be still wheeling and dealing on the horse front.  The more things change….

I think that pretty much covers most of our regulars for now.  I supposed I could have added something about Daffy and her lunatic mother, but their schtick never really changes and, quite frankly, I’m bored with them at the moment.  They continue to be a giant pain in the ass on whatever discussion group they haven’t managed to get themselves banned from as of yet.  I’m sure the long time readers here recall Angela Marshall and the whole sad saga of sending her three legged lame horse to slaughter in Canada because she didn’t want him wasted. (https://shedrowconfessions.wordpress.com/2012/09/16/sundays-psa-7/) It was one of the more callous and disgusting illustrations of exactly how, what passes for, the mind of some of these PSAs work.  It seems she is finding it difficult to hoist her post-partum ass up on regular horses and is now buying ponies.  That’s not all she is up to either.  She is also still pissing and moaning how much she misses the horse she sold off to the kill buyer and planning to have his image inked on her own hide.  WHO DOES THAT?  You made the poor animal suffer horribly and now you want it stamped on your body to forever remind yourself what a cruel asswad you are?  Fill your boots, Angela.  Maybe with your next welfare check you can buy yourself a clue…

Even though the PSA buffoons were the true subject of this post, I always like to finish on a positive note as far as the anti-slaughter front goes.  Probably the best news is that the Senate Ag Appropriations bill, which will once again eliminate federal funding for USDA inspections of horse meat, has passed the Senate Appropriations Committee via voice vote.  As we are all aware, this would still leave some doors open, so please contact your legislators an ask them to support the SAFE Act which would end slaughter for good.  The momentum is on our side so now is not a time to rest on our laurels.  Let’s get this done!

Sorry for the extended absence on this blog.  There are some times I’m a bit busier than others and then there are other times my ADD flares up and I just don’t have the focus to sit and write a bunch.  Other times it’s kinda nice to take a bit of a break from the constant horror of slaughter, although that’s never really possible.  I’m sure you have all followed along the various ups and downs lately, but so far it’s looking good that, once again, inspections for horse meat will be defunded and we’ll be right back where we were not so long ago.  That’s all good news and I always said I would happily wrap this blog up once slaughter was no longer a threat for our horses.  Let’s just say we have miles to go before we sleep as good ole Slaughterhouse Sue still has any and all things equine in her crosshairs and she’s getting downright creative in her quest to eat her way through the equine population.  Which kinda brings us to the reason for this drive-by blog today….

As most of us know by now, when Slaughterhouse Sue runs one of her organizations broke or embarrasses herself to the point of hiding under a rock for a while, she normally comes back under a new banner and redoubles her efforts to wipe out our equine population.  This time is no different.  Allow me to introduce you to Suey’s newest business venture….Sue Wallis’ Wyoming Meats.  I truly wish I was joking about this, but I’m not.  (http://wyomingmeats.com/) She is now `Food Freedom’ fighter and seeks to circumvent the current lack of commercial slaughter by doing a co-op kinda deal with meat.  Sure, she wants to slaughter anything and everything, but make no mistake, this is Suey thumbing her nose at the lack of horse slaughter and seeking revenge on equines as she still blames a riding accident for the death of her spouse.

As per usual, Suey doesn’t provide us with much detail as far as her business model.  I’m going to go ahead and surmize that she isn’t really a `detail’ kinda person given her past failures.  However, her and her inbred clan have been fighting for their right to drink and sell their straight from the tit milk for quite some time and obviously it sparked an idea for our fearless horse hater.  They have been in and out of court fighting for their right to have what basically amounts to share cropping of milk.  In other words, they sell shares in the milk cow, which will still live on their ranch and you get your supply of unpasteurized milk.  Nobody gets in trouble because there are no rules about what you can and can’t do if you own the cow and aren’t technically selling the milk.  I’m probably oversimplifying, but that’s the gist of it.  She has extrapolated out from this and now offers meat as a `shared harvest’, with horse being on the list.  All this is being done under the heading of CSA or Community Supported Agriculture.  I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that her family breeds Belgians and Haflingers which happen to be favorites of the slaughter industry.  Where Suey is going to get herself into very big trouble is that she is calling herself a broker.  Last time I checked, brokers facilitate the sales of things and it isn’t legal to sell meat of any kind without an inspection and it’s outright illegal to sell horse meat for any form of human consumption in several states.  Things that make you go hmmmmm.

proslI have said before that, as a compromise, I wouldn’t be against a knacker truck or horses being humanely put down at home and processed if people are bound and determined to eat their animals.  I’m sure Suey will tell all the anti-slaughter people that this is a humane way for processing horses.  She’ll basically spout anything in order to fill her gut with Trigger Burgers.  I want to know how this is going to help the unwanted horse population she has told everybody she is so concerned about.  How is it going to help the horse industry as a whole?  It’s not, it’s only going to line her pockets and allow her to wedge one of her pudgy toes in the door of horse slaughter.  I know we’re fighting on a lot of different fronts to see an end to slaughter once and for all, but let’s not let this new venture of Suey’s to slip under the radar.  She’s thumbing her nose at the law and all of us and, once again, horses are the pawns.  Enough is enough.
