Happy Wednesday! I’d say `Hump Day’ but chances are that would be taken and misquoted out of context and the next thing we’ll hear is that we’re all part of some bizarre sex cult. Ain’t nobody got time for that! What we do have time for is another guest post. I am still working on some other things that will take me back my roots with this blog, but in the meantime, the HiCaliber stuff is still `happening’. Today’s post comes from a `contributor’ and gives a rather telling and timely update on a HiCaliber horse that was there almost until the end. I suspect this is only the first such story we’ll be hearing about in the coming months. We’re a long ways from done it seems…

How many of you remember Scout, the cute little baby that Michelle rode, claiming that he was 3-4 years old? That was back in September 2017. It was obvious that he was too small for Michelle to be riding, and in an ill-fitting saddle, to boot. Still, he looked like a little cutie, and many of us cringed, wondering what would happen to him. None of us were even surprised when she later declared him a crypt, which was a frequent story of hers, and money raised for a very expensive surgery that was of course never performed. Turns out the surgery was never needed, either. I hope that this post might prove educational, as well as heartwarming, knowing that Scout has arrived at a new place where he will get the care that he–as do all horses–deserve.
Now, for Scout’s REAL story:
Scout arrived in mid December at SMM, and you couldn’t ask for a bigger love bug. Always interested in what people are doing, and resembles a giant Labrador Retriever, with the way he attaches himself to the people around him. (Am I the only one who absolutely wants to cry at these horses who are simply seeking love and instead simply languished at HiCaliber, being ignored if they weren’t “favorites?”) I mean, look at this face–who couldn’t love that face?
(prior to worming)
Basically, had this horse been examined by an actual vet, had blood drawn, been laid down etc…. They would have seen elevated phosphorus levels (see 3rd paragraph from bottom), his teeth would have shown his age, and his testicle would have appeared.
This is the vet paperwork upon discharge, with the admission information as they knew it–“cryptorchid, approx. 5 years of age.” The information within gives what the vet discovered through bloodwork, during gelding, etc. regarding his age, etc.
The best news of all is that this young horse has fallen into the best of hands, from a rescue which has always produced fantastic results with any horse in their care. You can follow Scout’s story at “Grace–the Little Horse with the Big Spirit,” on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Grace-the-little-horse-with-the-big-spirit-149993988359361/. They are a 501c3 who depend solely on donations, and work primarily with law enforcement and local horses in need, without attending auctions to raise money. As with all rescues–they are really struggling and could use additional donations to help Scout, as well as others in their care from a recent neglect case. He will be available for adoption soon in the Roseburg area!
Who couldn’t love that face! I’m so happy for him and his potential adopters. Thank you!
Good lord! Wormy after being with HC!?! What a strange deal that is. (just kidding). Poor guy – dponors to HC take note, worming a horse is a normal act of maintenance – didn’t you pay for all that? Tsk Tsk. Keep sending the creep money, you obviously don’t need it.
And Shed, can’t wait to see that new post.
Not to mention it’s one of the least expensive things they need on intake and takes about 2 minutes. Sheer neglect and laziness that sees this horse so full of worms.
So glad Scout found a loving home and the care he needed
Exactly. The cost of wormer and the huge benefit to the horse is such a simple constructive management tool. It is so telling that HC could not be bothered. I hope the donors feel shame for bringing these horses into the crappy hold of their idol.
I had an old mare that I would honestly have to sit down and plan (with troops) ahead of time when it came to worming her. Mosquito netting, ghillie suits, ninjas, firemen and a clown that sold ice cream just to get her wormed, the stinker. But wormed she was!
So he was about 2 yo when the photo was taken of Michelle riding him? Did I do the math correctly? I don’t even want to think about what his growth might have missed with all of the worms … horses can be tough, hopefully it won’t matter much to him once the worms are out of his system.
Thank goodness Scout got out to a good landing. 🙂
This is the kind of thing that you can’t see just by looking, and that helps the deception of the villagers go on and on. The horses may look kind of ok just standing there, but their true internal health status may be far short of that.
So happy for Scout! I’m certain that he has an exceptional disposition given what he packed around.

Blessings, Scout. Live long and prosper. And may you never have to tote a tub of lard like M again!
MH, by our estimates, he had not quite achieved the age of 2. Thoroughbred birthdays are officially noted as January 1st of each year, but they are not always born in January, sometimes Feb-March, and sometimes even later–which means that he was not even 2 years old yet.
True, depending on where he was originally from, he could have been even later as further north they will still be foaling in April and early May. He’s a handsome guy though. Might be worth and adopter doing DNA on him and figuring out just who he is.
DNA went in on him yesterday.
Awesome! Did y’all use the hair in a paper bag method like Hicaliber? Hope you don’t have to wait as long since we’re all still waiting on the OTTB20 dna results.
Didn’t the OTTB20 really end up being something like the OTTB3?
Yes, and the `burned lips’ ended up to be fescue sores. Such a shame that the news outlets that did the puff pieces at that time didn’t follow up.
What ever happened to Paxton, only heard he was dead, nothing else about that beauty! The rode the heck out of him in all those trail rides! Poor baby
Not sure other than it was be
And as always, this rescue can use your donations to assist in Scout’s road to recovery. His actual gelding was slightly more than a regular castration, because he was taken to OSU due to the fact that he had been declared a “crypt,” so he had to be laid down and rolled over. Paypal donations can be made–if I remember correctly–to admin@strawberrymountainmustangs.com .
You are more than welcome to follow his progress updates at the above FB page, and if you have any questions, Darla answers them quickly and honestly. (She even posts receipts!)

Thanks to this ex-volunteer for sharing this story. I am shocked he was passing worms like that!! It is just routine care to regularly worm your animals and costs so little! No excuse for that! Yet another grift and another victim. So happy he is in a good place now and will get the attention he seems to enjoy so much. Nice surprise that other testicle showed up.
Thanks, Shed. Keep the stories coming. It ain’t over yet.
So glad he got a safe place and is doing great.
I donated for Scout over two weeks ago.
Glad he is doing well.
I read some comment today on the HiC FB page about their horse adoption contracts being enforced still and to be passed on to another organization. Anyone know anything about this? Falcon Ridge perhaps?
I’m guessing the other entity is going to be #Alphamare Village. It doesn’t matter though. From what I’ve been told, the contract will be null and void once she loses the 501c3 unless there was a clause in the original contracts.
LOL not an ex volunteer by a long shot. SMM is one of the only rescues we support, and am proud to call her a friend.
DNA sent in NOT in a paper bag, and no drama or fanfare–imagine that! Just a sincere desire by the rescue to do right by that guy.
If he goes back to In Reality, I think I will move back to Oregon just so that I can adopt him! I had a special place in my heart for those lines before Tiznow went to stud, and I keep swearing that someday….
To imagine that on the day Scout was purchased by HiCaliber, 3 other horses were purchased, with a total of over 3k raised. I wonder where his responsible rescue fee went, because we know a vet didn’t work on him.
Well, a 30% vet did!
Yes, lucky us! Now if the CVMB would only move forward with their own complaints, such as M accepting money for acting as a vet which in fact she was not. But then again, she falsely presented herself as a rescue, so I guess it is just a hop, skip and a jump to presenting yourself as a fake vet, as well–or at least 30% of one and accepting pay as if it were legal for her to do so.
She can’t even cling on to the 30% vet thing. After seeing that worm load, she has been demoted to a 3% vet. My God, how difficult is it to purchase and administer a tube of dewormer? I mean really, you don’t even have to leave your house. No prescription required, just order online. Even a 30% vet can surmise that an animal is wormy with an unthrifty coat.
So happy to see this update and further proof that HC screwed over its donors. The money obviously never went to where it was intended. 😔 Poor horses!
It also tells me that she had no concept on herd health which you don’t even have to be a 1% vet to understand that. Pretty simple to keep the farm on a worming and vaccination program. That’s why responsible places have QT, so new horses can be wormed, vaccinated and only integrated into the herd once those issues are taken care of. The fact that she stil tries to portray herself as a horse person offends me to the very core of my being.
Absolutely Shed! It’s the complete basics. Hard to believe that she grew HC to that size without being called on it much sooner. 🙄 Well, I guess she was, but then promptly booted or muted the concerned party.
I’ve been watching about Jim and Tammy Faye Baker on 20/20 tonight. It’s HiCaliber for Jesus. Same tactics and same kinda idiots. It’s eerie to watch .
Yikes! 😬
I think Manson might do her own plastic surgery…30% plastic surgeon and all.
LOL. It looks like she gets her lips and eyelashes done in some back alley in TJ
Cee’s Tizzy sire of Tiznow. In Reality, goes back to War Relic X 2. Tough horse. Know that bloodline well.
I think Scout looks more along the lines of Mr Prospector descendant. Look forward to what the JC DNA results might reveal.
Ya gotta love them, don’t you? I love the In Reality line and hated to see that we didn’t have a lot of major descendants of the line going to stud to see it keep going until Tiznow. I loved War Relic’s pedigree with all of its inbreeding to the Man O’ War line, but by all accounts, in him it certainly resulted in a temperamental specimen.
I haven’t met a mean Tiznow baby yet, but
definitely smart, strong minded horses that definitely NEED a lot of exercise and once they trust you, the sky is the limit and they don’t quit.
Tiznow, himself, is a very kind horse. I’ve seen tourists do some pretty stupid things around him and he seems to take it all in stride. I’ve never even seen him get nippy with people in those situations. I was told that he absolutely refused to participate in the whole recreational riding thing that Winstar does with some of their stallions. Apparently he laid down and said `NO’. LOL
Has anyone sent this in to the AG? If you have provable info, hope reports are continuing to be sent.
Waxonwaxoff, thank you for your donation! I promise it goes to exactly the spirit in which it was intended to be used.
😘

I’d like to just point out a few things….
If in 9/17 he was 3-4 years old, one year and a few months later aged at approx 5, the initial age approximation was correct.
He WAS a crypt. A unilateral (one side) one.
His testicle was no where to be found on exam. It wasn’t until he was anesthesized and flipped on his back, that the testicle moved into the scrotum. This happens sometimes, but doesn’t negate that he was cryporchid (one or both testicles not present in the scrotum). Fortunate for the horse (his abdomen didn’t need to be opened) and for the rescue for not needed to pay for an expensive and invasive surgery.
His phosphorus was elevated however, as stated, that is normal in a young horse.
Everything else:
-THANK YOU!!! for taking in this cutie and doing right by him
-Shame on you Michelle
* correction: Vet approx horse was 4. Still in line with the initial estimation
M raised money for his crypt surgery…and never had it done. So regardless of the location of the sneaky testicle…it should not have still been present in the horse.
I would think had he been assessed by a real vet, they would have known he didn’t need the expensive surgery. Remember when they actually had Moss and Spini doing intakes? They tried that on Techi to geld him. Why wouldn’t they have done the same with Scout unless a real vet didn’t see him?
Weren’t funds raised by HC on more than one occasion for Scout’s crypt surgery?
Yeah, I have screen shots floating around somewhere of at least one of those times.
I think the point is that had a real vet seen the horse, they might have been able to determine that a major cryptorchid surgery wasn’t required and M wouldn’t have had to fundraise for it more than once. He could have been gelded in the field. Remember Techie? They did that, or at least attempted to, at the ranch with Dr. Spini. Then you can add to the fact that the horse stood around for a year with his nuts part of which was while turned in with fillies. It’s just piss poor husbandry at ever turn and there is no way this cute, young horse needed to be standing around for a year. A real rescue would have probably had him gelded, fed up, and out the door in six months or less.
Even more importantly-with better nutrition, etc , or even better yet a vet reaching up and handling it to determine if the horse were actually a crypt, his testicle would have made popped right out and made an appearance. It was merely caught on the inguinal ring as opposed to higher up, which requires surgery.
Love SMM. Started following them when they got Grace. I’m SO GLAD this beautiful boy is with them. JFC, how hard is it to buy a tube of dewormer and administer it to the horse? M is the laziest POS. I remember every time I’d read “this isn’t our first rodeo” it would infuriate me. Because every single time it appeared that yes, it truly was their first rodeo, know nothing morons.
.
If he’s unraced and no tattoo, and no microchip – what is the point of DNA Testing out of curiosity?
Not trying to start a conflict, just genuinely asking what the test was for? Was it a marker test to just confirm breed? Or was the test done to attempt to acquire jockey papers for him to race? I’m misunderstanding something but if someone could explain it to me as I’m not all that savvy I’d appreciate it
If I were to do a DNA on a horse like that it would be for lineage. You don’t have to race or show to curious or proud of your horses background. Someday I’d like to send in a sample just to see what my horse pops up as.
I’m sure others have a better more detailed explanation for TB’s.
If they did the Jockey Club DNA testing, it will determine if he’s a Thoroughbred and his parentage. There are many unraced, untattoed registered Thoroughbreds out there. Microchipping became mandatory with the 2017 foal crop.
Thanks!
Sorry guys, I answered in the wrong place, and don’t ask me why my name shows up as my full name on my cell phone and my desktop shows up as D, using my same email LOL.
The purpose of the DNA is not so much to discover his lineage, as the vets didn’t think he was a TB so Darla would like to discover his breed if in fact he is not. Vet states that she believes he is about 3.5 years old, but rounded it to 4 due to the unofficial story that he “is” a TB and would therefore be 4 according to the JC rules on January 4th, regardless of him not being registered or able to be registered.
If he is not, then the vet states that the horse is around 3 and a half years old.
Thanks! So is she sending a sample to Texas A&M to get an idea of breed?
Because if his parents were registered, their DNA is on file and at least you’d know who he was and how he was bred. I believe if a horse is papered, the papers should stay with the horse because it helps them in life He’s not going to race at his age, but parentage also tells you a lot about the horse if you know certain bloodlines. There are some family characteristics in horses.
Exactly. The cost of wormer and the huge benefit to the horse is such a simple constructive management tool. It is so telling that HC could not be bothered. I hope the donors feel shame for bringing these horses into the crappy hold of their idol. To give him back his identity. M and R campaigned with tears for that – remember? But those 2 were tapping into what we ALL know -to restore a horse it’s identity through DNA is right and proper. Even the wild horses need to have restored to them a link to their birth – something BLM is attempting to rob them of. Stripping a horse of their ancestry is to cause that horse to become anonymous and therefore, unwanted and that is wrong.
One reason is that, if the future adopter were interested, Scout could be eligible to participate in a number of TB-specific classes, shows or activities, all aimed at promoting the TB in disciplines other than racing. There are some pretty fun programs out there, with some cool awards. Trying to combat the ‘crazy TB’ stereotype 🙂
*
His DNA was sent in to Texas A&M not to “ID” him per se, but identify his breed, as the OSU vets didn’t think he was thoroughbred.
I’d love it if they’d post the results as it’s something I’m very curious about doing. Thanks for all the info!
Oh? From results I have seen, such as a Mustang coming up as a Swedish Warmblood or something like that, I don’t think those general unknown breed dna tests are anything but pure entertaining.
The Jockey Club sorts through verified dna on file. Quite different.
Ok, I am going to say something WAY off topic here.
I don’t know who the fuck the idiot was that even started with this deal with Frank Parlato, although I have my suspicions.
However, as was pointed out, the horse featured today was not one of Michelle’s rescues, it was one from SMM.
Whomever is sending in photos and information needs to verify their damned facts.
I don’t really understand WTF is up with that blog either and the people contributing to it. It’s not like there aren’t enough pics of HiCaliber horses floating around to use. WTF does SMM have to do with that last post?
I think someone was simply sending in pictures to Frank and sent that one in, probably by accident for him to pick and choose which to use, such as the4 post featuring Galle which wasn’t actually Galle. I doubt that the minion actually sent in photos.
It was total coincidence that this post happened to be featuring Scout’s story one or two days afterwards.
Why would you look anywhere other than a HiCaliber page for a picture of a horse? Doesn’t make sense. Actually, none of what is going on over there makes sense.
The whole thing is kinda half baked. The first letter to him was a little like reading a primary book and the second wasn’t much better. I know! I know! Pot and kettle, my skills stink.
Then I had to really laugh at the dramatic flare that one post or article had. I wasn’t laughing at Shedrow because I staunchly believe without her and many others, people like me would still be spinning our wheels trying to convince others something was rotten in Denmark. I don’t believe that Shed had to cultivate an inner sanctum of spies. I believe concerned individuals came forward and then others. Although, the idea of Shed as a master spy amuses me to no end, I know that’s not the case.
This holding pattern we’re in while waiting for the end sucks, but a lot of the drama should be over. I hate that M has several horses housed somewhere. I’m glad that her auction antics seem to be stopped. No more watching her bring in broken horses from her tripper buddy or horses that can’t be shipped to Mexico from her kill buyer bestie. I’m not in the least bit sad to not see a massively tragic post from M about shooting a horse for bullshit reasons.
I do snicker about her Alphamare project because in my mind an alpha mare is just a bossy old thing and I have a hard time equating that image with anything positive.
Anyways, I guess you still can’t fix everyone or make everyone happy. So those who need to drama to feel complete are going to keep trying to work up more until it’s bone dry.
I myself am completely ecstatic that we have a forecast of several lovely days ahead! Time to go play with my horse.
Speaking of which, wonder how M and R are affording to feed those horses and cover living expenses or is her “Village” stepping up? Maybe sge has a little extra $$$ floating around.
The die hards are still giving her their money and Chris Eddy is still rallying the troops.
Right? Either way it can’t be comfortable to be them right now.
Three cheers for little Scout and his awesome new life! Rescued from the rescue, those are the lucky ones. He is a handsome fella!
Thank you for your nonstop work on getting the word out about these evil people. Everyone still needs to keep their eyes open wide and make sure that Michelle will one day not be allowed to have any animals!!! Praying the horses that are anywhere near her or that Copper Horse Trainer (laughable in saying trainer because I have watched her ride…don’t get me started) These people are animal abusers and need to be cut off!!!!!
So she rode scout, knowing he was young, but waited on rizzo because she wanted him to mature???
Exactly! Only difference being is Scout didn’t come with papers and she didn’t see his value. However, look at the fates of both horses. Rizzo gets mutilated first by a broken fence and then by a 30% vet, while Scout got to land softly with a stellar organization who finally geld him and worm him. It’s like the kiss of death when Manson thinks a horse is worth something.
Valuable = negligence…… Jeez.
OMG!! I met my first village idiot tonight. I just can’t even with their idealism. Wtf is wrong with people? Keep your BS at home. You can not ever convince me that M and Company did right by any animal, I am losing my shit right now Especiouly since we have lost a young one in a car accident. I just left because I was worried about my friends 😪😪 WTAF
I’m sorry. My heart goes out to you and yours.
I agree with D, I don’t know how they managed to get dressed and function in society.
Sorry to hear this. 😦
OkIgotmyselfblocked I am so sorry. That is rough. My thoughts are going out to you.
Don’t worry about the village idiots. They will never be convinced. I’m not certain how Darwinism has not weeded them them out already.
Because hardly any of them leave their house other than to make a Doritos run.
Thank you for this upbeat, truthful, happy landing post! It was needed knowing there are still horses without the soft landing in the wrong hands. Now that he’s in good hands, he’ll be a true beauty in no time.
Well oddly enough, I posted a comment on the Frank Report last night–something I swore never to do–and shockingly enough, it now shows up as an article as a “guest view.” That’s pretty sneaky, considering that it was merely supposed to post as a comment on the existing article to add some facts, which seem to have been forgotten somewhere along the line.
Word to the wise, don’t attempt it LOL.
LOL! At least I know you weren’t cheating on me. You want to make guest posts, you can fill your boots right here.
You know the saying ‘When you point one finger, three point back at you.’ Well, this most certainly applies here. Bunny might want to do some reading up on misuse of funds, fraud etc.
Bunny Marinelli Obvious they are ignorant as to how nonprofits work.
I have to say that there isnt any need to post there, taunt the minions, etc. I merely wanted it out there that this not only about the horses, it encompasses fraud of a large magnitude for the personal benefit of an individual. etc. because I havent seen that mentioned. At all. I’m not fussed if the minions come, so please dont feel the need to reply on his blog. I simply wanted that aspect known.
Guess bunny gave up being Janice Tetzel, huh?
BunBun spawned skeletor. Obviously there is something amiss in that gene pool.
HC posted tees/beanie sales will go to ‘outstanding debt’…sooo, HC debt or M’s? If it’s donated on HC fb, should be for 501c3 use.
“there have been a few horses returned..” umm, to who/what/where? How do they have money for more? We’re dissolving, but contracts are valid…fa la la, searching for our path…it’s leading nowhere…
maybe she’s lying..claims she was ‘in the hospital’ again…what will it be this time? Pick an injury/disease…
Why is it that I suspect the `returned’ horses are just ones Manson has scooped for herself and she’s trying to angle it so she can openly beg for money to support them.
If you notice, she lands herself in ER everytime there is a massive crisis of her own making. Drugs are better IV, ya know?
bet you’re right, she prob. had a few stashed at random places & now claims they’re ‘returned’…although they’re assets of HC, she’ll pretend they’re hers
Oh no, I’m aware of horses being returned recently or up for sale. You can’t fly that many out the door in a short amount of time and expect those were truly forever homes, especially when some were going to village idiots on a whim. The real shit show is only just starting as far as HiCaliber refugees.
oh good grief
I noticed that somewhere she posted that “another rescue,” will be picking up the contracts. Makes me wonder if they are planning to start another 501c3 in one of their names. Hopefully, the agencies involved communicate enough with their departments that a hold would be put on that. In addition, assets cannot simply be “transferred,” to another rescue without AG approval.
Contracts won’t be enforceable since the people didn’t make a contract with the other entity. Whether she likes it or not, the contracts will be null and void and the horses will be better off as a result.
She would also need the money to take the case to court.
The five side effects. Yep. She’s got it!
https://drugabuse.com/5-psychological-side-effects-of-percocet/
Thanks for the follow-up on these horses. Its a relief to see the ones like Scout who made it out to true soft landings. I lost my mare unexpectedly at the age of 24 last week. I had her nearly 15 years, and devastated doesn’t begin to describe my pain. I am so heartbroken too by the insane amount of horses at HC that likely never had a single tear shed over them. Every horse deserves to be mourned just as much as my mare currently is. I’m glad the shitshow is largely winding down, now I am eager for accountability.
I No No I’m so sorry for your loss.
I went through the passing of my horses several years ago and initially followed Hi Cal because I was missing them.
I too can’t wait for the shit show to grind to an utter halt.
Your horse was so lucky to have you.❤️
So very sorry for your loss. 😦
So sorry for your loss, O No No.
😦
Handjob Harry is over a month late to the party, report yesterday 1/22 in SDUT @ HC eviction
one thing his story confirmed: cleaning company did wear hazmat suits cleaning M’s house….$20K to make main house livable again
That guy is such a mess! LMAO.
I still can’t believe he watched and reported on Michelle shooting a “compassion pull”.
That was an only propaganda video they used with the article. That horse was literally drugged off his feet and the whole thing was BS. From eye witnesses of her shooting horses it’s not all rainbows and butterflies on a regular day.
Dollar amount for cleaning the houses is 120k…he got a lot wrong…
Just the one house? Seriously? I can’t even wrap my mind around that.
Oh never mind, saw that was for all 3. Still disgusting.
How HARD IS IT to worm a horse? Poor baby. So glad he is on his way to a safe landing. Wonderful work, Shed and everyone. Thanks for caring so much.
Scout’s DNA came in from Texas A&M, and revealed that he is TB,Trakhener, and Selle Francais!
Wow! I just saw the updated pics of him as well Talk about a diamond in the rough. Makes me sick to think how long he’d have lingered at HiC or even been shot or died of unnatural causes without ever coming close to being what he can be. If I was closer I’d adopt him!
Me, too.
Scout is back at Strawberry Mountain Mustangs, and is in good hands there. If anyone would like to donate, they would greatly appreciate your donation.
