I have to apologize in advance for yet another really long post. I’ve got a bunch of things to share today and a lot of them have clips. Those of you on mobile phones just click on them and they should play. With the increased media interest in all things HiCaliber, the instinct has been to keep things a bit closer to the vest in order to preserve their integrity in ongoing complaints and investigations. However, things have gotten this far because of many voices coming together, so people deserve to be kept in the loop as much as is appropriate. Even though it’s Monday this post is probably best digested with an adult beverage or three. It’s 5 O’clock somewhere! Hopefully, I can present all of this in a somewhat palatable way. Even I’m confused by some of it, but I’m pretty sure that is by design and not happenstance. Somebody please kick me if I ever get this far behind again!
Let’s kick off with the Braveheart drama. About a week ago there was a post made on HiCaliber Horror Story that showed concern for the condition of Braveheart based on a picture that had been posted. It was followed up with a denial from HiCaliber, complete with a strategically posed and cropped picture of him that was supposed to show he was in great shape. For starters, the picture that Alex posted was not his intake picture or what he looked like when he got to HiCaliber. The above pic in the trailer is what he looked like and he was not that skinny. Also, if you notice the HiCaliber picture, it does show ribs and his spine protruding and it was originally posted on February 25th. Manson just cropped herself and Merrily out of the pic. Still not convinced?
All these picture were taken on March 10th and posted in one of HiCaliber’s secret groups. They knew damn well that Alex was telling the truth and deliberately lied to their village to cover up the fact this horse has lost an astonishing amount of weight in the past few months. He is not thriving. The only thing we have seen of him is his ears as he hauls Manson around on trail rides or maybe catch a glimpse of him tacked up so you can’t see his spine. There is no denying that this horse is much thinner than when they bought him. A `hater’ did not sneak on their property to take these pictures of him either and the only mistake Alex made was that he came from Salvador and not Nacho.
THESE are what hater pics look like since were on the subject. This was from March 9th clearly showing the filth and crowding. Just so we’re clear and all…
I’m sure most of you reading this post feel sorry for this volunteer. She seems to want peace, love and happy horses. I’m not sure the wisdom behind smudging with all those fire hazards around, but there has been rain so there is that. Sadly, just like Manson, this volunteer seems to be able to flip the switch between spiritual and just plain nasty.
So much for peace, love and sage, huh? Let’s not forget these ladies were their friends. You can not like what they did (personally, I love what they did), but some of this stuff seems a bit below the belt. In fact, much further below the belt than I ever thought of going. However, at least two seem to have a flicker of common sense and realizing that these people that were `reasonable’ and `not malicious’ are likely telling the truth. Not smudging Lori though, she’s gonna keep things low.
As per usual, nothing is ever Manson’s fault. You will note she says they have only had two positive cultures within the last year. That is what you would call a lie of omission because she most certainly didn’t culture each and every sick horse. In fact, she doesn’t even mention how many horses were cultured. Two out of two is 100%, just sayin…
Last fall, a company came out to HiCaliber to film some spots for their rice bran product. I remember this because it was sold to the village as a special visitor coming and a major working bee ensued. It was pretty awesome deal for HiCaliber as the company left them 7 pallets of their product. Rice bran is one thing that really good at putting weight on horses without making them hot. It’s especially good for seniors and metabolic types. I’d think that would be just the sort of thing a rescue would need. However, just a few short months later they were begging for more during the Del Mar fiasco.
Flash forward to the present and there sits much of the rice bran right where the company left it. Much of it is spoiled. For over six months, as they begged for money for feed numerous times, they walked right past pallets of rotting feed nobody could get off their ass and move. The second pic is the little bit that was able to be saved as they finally decided now might be a good time to move it into the feed room.
I’m sure most of you have seen the live feed where Manson addressed the recent media reports of her sketchy financial records. She adamantly denied that she had ever used the donor funds for personal gain when she was interviewed by inewsource earlier. Naturally, she had an excuse for everything and attempted to throw other people under the bus in her live feed. The problem is that she’s pulling things out of her ass yet again. The financials were not from the people she’s blaming and, contrary to her excuses, nobody broke in and stole anything. I’m pretty sure the auditors won’t buy that excuse either because it’s about on par with the dog ate my homework. The reason these Paypal records are available at all is that they don’t have to phone Manson up and ask her permission to view her them. They would subpoena them directly from Paypal and for whatever reason they became available through a public records request. There is a reason her Paypal accounts are frozen and it’s not because a hater phoned up Paypal and made something up. That order likely came down from the AG or one of the other investigating agencies. Anyhow, back to Weight Watchers and Manson’s claim of reimbursing the rescue. She shows one time that she might have and the dates were conveniently chopped out.
Do you know what else her excuse doesn’t cover? The fact that she used HiCaliber’s account for 4 consecutive months to pay for her Weight Watchers. She says it was only one time and she `forgot her card’ but it was an online payment and how do you forget your card when paying online? How do you conveniently make the same mistake 4 months in a row? She sure does seem to forget her debit card a whole bunch when I looked at the rest of the financials.
Here’s a whole bunch of other times she must have `forgot her card’. School fees, Google Play, Del Taco, Starbucks, bar tabs, etc, etc. If you watched her live feed, you’ll recall she spoke at great length about appreciating her volunteers and buying them meals. You tell me how many volunteers she’s appreciating for a $2.95 Starbucks tab or $6.46 at Del Taco. How is it a business expense to pay a dog trainer? What you won’t find is payments for lashes or nails on these records. I’m sure those are cash transactions anyhow and there are a whole bunch of cash withdrawals from various locations, often with more than one within minutes of another.
This was another fee that stood out for me. It’s a payment to Manson’s divorce attorney. The same attorney that is said to have a her personal horse living at HiCaliber for several years for free.
Then you have the whole spyware lie Manson told on live feed. If you recall, she said it was to spy on haters and she installed it on her own laptop to see if her records were being stolen. That was a lie. She actually installed the spyware on her ex’s phone to see if he was cheating on her. There is a screen shot of the volunteer that installed it saying as much and the other screen shots are the transcripts from the spyware on his phone. I apologize they aren’t very clear. You should still be able to see that it’s not a business conversation she was spying on. Again, how is this a legitimate business expense or even legal? Turns out it would be considered wiretapping and could result in jail time and/or fines. Given the dates on these PayPal records and transcripts, the statute of limitations hasn’t even run out on that yet and it would apply whether she was spying on her ex or a former board member. You can read about it here. It’s laid out pretty clear and now we have Manson right on video admitting she did it, if not being truthful about who she did it to and why. Don’t worry, videos are saved.
The other day, Manson shared a rather disturbing video of her child trying to `milk’ their Pug. She claims the dog isn’t pregnant and had a false pregnancy or something. The dog was clearly uncomfortable and Manson’s child giggled and squeezed her nipples harder until something came out. Like I said, it was disturbing and for that reason I won’t be posting it. Manson likes to overshare her child’s problems on social media and claim she gets bullied and then she posts things like this for all to see. Thankfully, it did not stay up long as even her village idiots were mostly not all that amused by it. However, speaking of the Pug and all things financial…
I wonder if Manson happened to forget her card the day she bought a $1600 dog? Aside from the obvious issue with somebody in rescue going to a breeder and paying that much for a dog, it appears the rescue got to buy the dog . That’s a helluva `oops’ with using the wrong card. Thanks Village!
Last Tuesday, many of us were interested to see how auction was going to be handled with a temporary suspension of Manson’s ability to openly beg and grift for money. We knew there was no way she’d miss auction and the fact that she showed up with her horse trailer pretty much guaranteed she wasn’t going home empty. The village idiots were appropriately and dramatically outraged before the horses were even in the ring. Manson primed them even further with a pair of dramatic posts including the buzzwords she knew would stir up plenty of emotion and a sense of urgency. Bonded pairs! Melanomas! Youngsters! Thankfully, some of our stealth mole was around so we have somewhat of an idea of what really went down. As we know, Manson stood in the chutes bemoaning about all the horses going to flipper and trippers until she heard that there was another rescue there and rapidly changed her story to one of whining about sustainability and how irresponsible it was for them to create this market because the way she does it keeps prices low. In other words, the usual suspects may not be so eager to take her chump change in the parking lot if they think running them through the ring will pay better. What confused me is that Manson is always ranting about other rescues not stepping up and what would happen to the horses without them and yet when a rescue does step up, she whines about that too. As far as sustainability goes, I’m pretty sure that won’t be an issue. A Little Rescue is run by Brandi Perse. Their property used to belong to Ellen DeGeneres. I would like them to rescue me. The other thing is that A Little Rescue came in and did this without drama or taking shots at anybody. They were there to save some horses and that’s exactly what they did.
What Manson did not show her village idiots was the dead animals she stepped over on her way to whine in the chutes. Since she has yet to figure out a way to do parking lot deals for other livestock, it didn’t really suit her narrative to highlight the plight of other animals at this cesspool of an auction. There was also at least one other dead animal in the pens as well.
Thanks to our stealth moles, some of Manson’s stories can be busted up. Yes, the mare that had recently become separated from her foal was brought by Salvador. She came with the fleabitten gray Arab stallion that ended up with Love This Horse Rescue. Thank you to them for stepping up as well. I’m sure by now that everybody has heard all the conspiracy theories about this mare and who her foal might have been. Without DNA that’s all they are is theories. However we know for a fact this mare was bagged up and producing milk. We know that a week previously HiCaliber came into possession of an `orphan’ filly that was barely a day old and that filly possibly came from Salvador as he was at auction that day with his trailer but did not run horses through the ring. We’ll talk more about babies and mares in a bit though. Let’s talk about some other things that maybe not everybody knows about last Tuesday.
After the sale horses had run through the ring, HiCaliber briefly posted about this horse and said they were looking for a private buyer and needed $700 for him. He was very foot sore and was offered to nobody else. The ad was also pulled down right away and the horse not mentioned again.
Nacho was also at auction last week. I’m not sure which horses he brought or if it was just a goat day for him. All these guys have Manson and Romney Faye’s number so they would have been aware that things would be going down a bit differently this week.
So after auction, this trailer belonging to another regular flipper named Jose showed up after Manson had left. He did have horses in his trailer. He and his brother Marco are becoming regulars in the HiCaliber parking lot scams. In this video taken by one of our stealth moles, he denies knowing Manson or HiCaliber. He also mentions to his kid that they are being filmed and that he wants to get out of there but will be back next week and arrive earlier. I find that super interesting that he denied knowing Manson considering he has a very distinguishable trailer and has sold them horses before. Don’t believe me?
It seems Jose is as unfamiliar with the truth as Manson is. In fact, he’s done lots of business with her in recent months. He sold her Gigi, Roxanne likely came from him as well as Penelope among others. He was also present in the parking lot the day the police paid them all a visit at Stater Bros. Speaking of that, I guess now is as good a time as any to try to explain that to try to make sense out of that for everybody.
So back on February 13th, our stealth mole followed Jose to the Stater Bros parking lot. His trailer was empty that day, but it’s also the same day he brought Roxanne to auction and she ended up going home with Manson. Jose wasn’t the only flipper that met them there.
Just to be clear, neither of the voices on the above video are mine. They are stealth mole and let’s just say a `contact’. We were kind of back and forth about showing this, but since there has been all this talk about the police maybe only being there because of a fender bender we felt it best to show why they were there. They were there because selling horses in a parking lot is illegal. The pictures show Manson with the horse that had come out of Salvador’s trailer earlier in the day (believed to be Chino), taking his pictures and getting ready to beg for money just before the police rolled up. Regardless of what Manson claims about how `friendly’ it all was, it is illegal and it hasn’t gone unnoticed that she has gone to even greater lengths to hide her deals since this day including dragging the animals to a dirt road to film her tear jerking videos.
When the police rolled up, there was Jose, Pet Matchmaker, `Jason’ the hauler and Nacho all in the parking lot with Jose and Nacho’s trailers being empty. The police seemed mostly interested in HiCaliber but for whatever reason, the flippers scattered like the vermin they are.
As I have mentioned before, Nacho nearly had smoke on his heels he ran to his truck so fast, jumped in and got the hell out of dodge. Sadly, we only have still photos and no video because stealth mole kinda had her hands full at the time. I don’t recall which horse on the trailer was his, but if you recall, Nacho was the one responsible for Galle back in January. You can refresh your memory on the horrific condition she was in here. Nacho was also the one behind Mas, Magnum and so many others. Now that we’re all up to speed on the parking lot bust back in February, let’s jump back to last week and what happened after auction.
Despite Manson not being able to raise funds last week and the fact that all the horses that were sold through the ring were purchased by other rescues, Manson just couldn’t help herself. Unable to bitch that nobody else stepped up, she still managed to collect a full trailer of equines to drag back to the ranch. I know it’s hard to believe what Manson claims, especially when she’s trying to point fingers in other directions, but this time it appears to be true.
At some point well after auction, Manson rolled up to Wells Fargo with a full trailer. None of these animals have been introduced to the village idiots yet or even had their presence acknowledged which might make them easier to disappear. We know that Jose had a trailer full of horses after auction that he refused to sell to anybody that asked and the lame black private buyer horse they posted about ended up somewhere too. Manson likes to accuse people of not stepping up but how can they when they flippers are lying to them? Now that we have it out in the open that these horses exist, let’s see how long it takes Manson to come clean or what lies she spins to explain them.
Once A Little Rescue had the bagged up mare, now named Madre, checked over by the vet and confirmed that she had recently lost a foal, they reached out to HiCaliber to offer to purchase Emlyn. They were promptly told `no’ because the `private buyer’ wanted to keep her. Of course we know the `private buyer’ is likely fictitious and will probably donate the filly to HiCaliber once they are able to accept donations. What human, let alone a rescue, would deny a filly a mother? Too young to be disrupted? Really? Because hauling her back in a trailer with pigs and strange horses and then throwing her in a stall with in a strange place and not allowing her a bottle isn’t disruptive at all.
Speaking of the refusal to give this filly a bottle, here is Amanduh trying to get her to drink out of a bucket. Sound is off because of the child in the video and her mother saying her name. One of their recent excuses for not bottle feeding this filly is the claim that she may aspirate if she drinks with her nose above her body or something. I can’t recall the exact wording because it was so ludicrous. Look at any foal nursing from their mama and, last time I checked, their teats aren’t attached to their hocks. They have to reach up to nurse. It’s also probably a lot cleaner than Amanduh’s filthy paws swishing around in her dirty bucket. This poor little filly. By all reports there isn’t the same sign up and interest to sit around the clock with her that Magnum had.
While we’re on the subject of little Emlyn, here is a nice lie Amanduh told and no, I’m not referring to the private buyer one. The fact that she claims that this foal was saved from the slaughter pipeline was just crazy. Even IF she wasn’t Madre’s baby, this filly was not in the`pipeline’ They do not ship horses under six months of age to slaughter.
There are the guidelines from the USDA for horses shipping to slaughter. As you can also see, that the majority of horses that Manson gets from Salvador, Nacho, Misner and the others are not horses that would ship to slaughter. That isn’t ‘saying they aren’t horses that need some help from a legitimate rescue, key word being `legitimate’. Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s clear up another myth Manson uses to create a sense of urgency and get people to dig deep.
If you listened to Manson and forgot that shipping horses for the purposes of slaughter is illegal in California, you would think that the number of horses going to slaughter is on the rise. Nothing could be further from the truth whether you are talking about Canada or Mexico. The numbers have steadily decreased each year. That might be useful to point out to Manson’s pro slaughter vet as well. Don’t even get me started with the village idiots. I guess this is what happens when Manson is your personal Wikipedia for all things equine. They really need to learn to broaden their horizons and aim higher. We still have a long ways to go in order to remove the threat of slaughter, but we are making headway and the last thing we need is Manson and her village idiots running around telling lies.
I wonder if the village idiots have noticed how few actual update posts they get now that Manson can’t beg money for awhile. Rather than use this time to make quality adoption videos or even update on any one of the 170 plus horses warehoused on their feedlot, she has turtled. Because of this, I thought I’d update people on Magnum. You hear Manson mention how fat he is getting when, in fact, he is sporting that bloated belly with no actual weight on his ass or shoulders. Likely it’s from the fact that they only feed him hay and he’s never received proper supplements or he’s full or worms. Probably both. From the looks of any super young baby that has actually survived at HiCaliber, they have no idea how to feed one and they all end up with this sad physique. He’s also being subjected to Amanduh’s version of halter training which seems to be designed to ensure he’s as rude as possible the bigger he gets as she allows him to either drag behind or wander out in front at full shank length.
Even though HiCaliber cannot openly beg for money and disperse assets, Amanduh’s for profit `business’ using HiCaliber horses, equipment and facilities continues unabated. For the minor fee of just $40 you too can learn how to crunch the shit out of a horse’s withers, tie a rope halter wrong and strap a child to the saddle. Awesome! And if that wasn’t enough for people, this past weekend she taught a groundwork class for the same fee. The horse she used was poor Shasta who had once upon a time been a private buy, only to be returned to the ranch not so long ago. She’s also kinda lame in this video. I’m not even sure WTF is going on here other than a lame horse being lunged on way too short of a line in the mud as she slips, slides and tries to stay upright as Amanduh shouts instructions from off camera. This level of ignorance is bad enough but the fact that she is inflicting it on rescue animals and teaching it to other neophyte horse people should be criminal. Amanduh needs to stick to the horses that only eat quarters outside of WalMart.
Now we come to the part of these posts I absolutely hate. Saying names. I have to admit I fell behind and I feel terrible about it. It gets overwhelming at the clip Manson is killing these past few months. Still, these horses deserve to be remembered and honored. Our first up is Andrina. She was but a blip on the village idiot radar as she was killed almost immediately. She was sore and appeared uncomfortable but I’m not sure she ever had real diagnostics done by a real vet. I wish I had more information about her to share. RIP. Andrina. #sayhername
Despite the dramatic back story she came with, Little Bear was from one of the usual suspects HiCaliber deals with. I’m not anti-euthanasia and I can see this mare probably needed a release. I’m against exploitation and increasing her suffering which is what happened to Little Bear. As Manson pontificated about knowing better and doing better, she also basically said she wouldn’t help this mare until funds were raised for diagnostics. Does anybody think this horse saw a vet? Any real rescue that saw this horse would get her help one way or another and not say, `only if we raise the funds, including the responsible rescue fees she will never use because we’re going to shoot her as soon as we get her home’. I’m not even going to get into the whole issue with the black pony in the picture with her showing up at auction that week and ending up at Baker Ranch. RIP Little Bear. #sayhername
I do not have a lot of information on Sahara or her death either. It has been confirmed she was recently killed but no details as to why. The fact she was relinquished almost exactly a year ago suggest that her time might have expired. RIP Sahara. #sayhername
Callie also passed without a mention recently. Purchased in the parking lot back in early December, she was deemed to be `remarkably sound’ in her intake video. That was basically the last mention there ever was of her before she left this earth. I wish I could say why or how. RIP Callie. #sayhername
Ruby Rose was one of the more upsetting cases lately. Even though Manson had said she was `neuro’ it appeared there was more to it than that. If anything she reminded me of a horse that had a head injury and it was upsetting to see them load this horse in a trailer to drag her all the way back to the ranch. Not surprisingly she went down in the trailer on the way back and was promptly shot in the head upon arrival. For all we know, her death may have triggered at least one or two others as Manson usually kills in pairs at the very least. At least Manson didn’t blame her death on haters even though she claimed Ruby Rose was having seizures. RIP Ruby Rose. #sayhername
Freedom was bought on March 5th. He appeared to have a blown suspensory among other issues and was not really able to bear weight on his injured limb. Manson mostly just referred to him as `the compassion’ pull as she made her tearful live feed at auction. This was shortly after the media shit storm had blown up so it was all very sad. What made me sad is the thought of this poor horse being rattled in a trailer the two plus hours back to Valley Center to meet his fate. What was actually in store for Freedom was so much worse than usual. Instead of being released from his suffering, Manson let him live until the reporter from the San Diego Union-Tribune came out to interview her. For whatever reason, he decided to simplify the problem adovocates have with HiCaliber and make it all about her euthanasia methods. As a result, Manson treated him to a little show on shooting a horse in the face with Freedom being the star. There was a dramatic picture of him laying on his side. The reporter waxed poetic about Freedom’s death march to the killing field, making sure to mention that they had to pause to shoot him up with `morphine’ so he could complete his journey. Then, Manson put on a great show of being sad and telling the horse she loved him before shooting him in the face. With that, Freedom had officially `earned his keep’ as an ambassador for taking a bullet to the brain. The reported didn’t mention where he came from and why people were allowed to abuse horses like that while Manson protects and covers for them. Instead he just allowed her to spew her propaganda without ever once asking a tough question. Ironically, this article came out shortly after Manson made the post about giving all the reporters hand jobs. RIP Freedom. #sayhisname
I’m sure by now, most of you have heard about the death of Blaze aka Blazing Idle. It was only on February 19th that Manson put up a placement post for her. She was dead shortly after that and that’s where it all gets a bit murky. We’ve all read about her former owner showing up to see her and being rather rudely and roughly treated by Amanduh while Manson hid in her house. The owners gave HiCaliber $1000 when they relinquished her. I’ve seen some people comment that that wouldn’t have paid for her upkeep for long and it was understandable that Manson shot her. Why is it that this owner had to pay $1000 to relinquish his horse but Manson will repeatedly pay people like Nacho and Salvador money to purchase their completely mutilated and mangled horses? Blaze was said to have gained weight and looked great at foster before being returned to the ranch and placed in south herd which ended up on hard QT, whatever that means. I’ve attached a post from her former foster mentioning about the quarantine and where Blaze had been moved to. How Manson treated her former owner, including attempt to throw him under the bus saying he only wanted her back to breed is beyond reprehensible. Even if that was true, is shooting her in the head better? I really don’t think so. RIP Blazing Idle. #sayhername
While we’re on the subject of mysterious reasons to kill a horse, these are all the times in the last year that Manson has claimed to have done a necropsy on various horses. In most cases she promises to keep people posted and updated once they get the results. I cannot recall her ever posting a necropsy result on a single one of these horses. Don’t forget it wasn’t that long ago she admitted she had only actually ever had one horse necropsied and that was awhile ago.
In lieu of promised updates on requested horses, Manson decided to finally post what passes for proof that Johnny Cade was actually cremated. This probably came about because people were mentioning they never got the hoof prints they paid for and there has always been some question whether or not he was actually cremated. Well, now we know there is a box with his name on it. I wonder where the rest of him is. I’ve had a horse cremated and there are a LOT of ashes involved. Much more than the box that Manson displayed. My horse had a very beautiful urn with a memorial plaque, and then the remainder of his ashes were in a cloth bag in a tote and were quite heavy. Even as emaciated as Johnny Cade was, there should be more left over than that small box. Given the other screen shots up above and Manson clearly displaying how little she values any animal, especially after dying, it wouldn’t be surprising if the additional ashes from Johnny Cade weren’t tossed in the manure pile. Then there is Manson saying to tractor a hole and I have to wonder how many unmarked graves are on that place. Creepy.
Here are a few recent posts about horses running loose at the ranch due to their shitty fences. The one post even mentions the escapees taking a tour through the QT area. That’s not even mentioning that at any given time they have studs waiting to be gelded or cryptorchids standing around who are also more than capable of getting a mare in foal. There have been a few `oops’ babies in the past there that the math didn’t quite work out for it to have happened anywhere other than since the mares got to HiCaliber. I believe Renley was one of them.
I thought this was an interesting post for a number of reasons not the least of which is the admission of strangles. Regardless of when she made this post, remember it was only recently that she said she had only ever had two horses test positive for strangles. I did block out the child exploitation part because even though Manson chooses to air her children’s personal issues all over social media, I don’t have to enable that.
As I was looking up a few things, I came across this post Manson made in 2014. It’s a pretty cool find as it shows how much of a complete 180 she’s done since moving to the new location. I wonder what the 2014 version of Manson would have to say to today’s incarnation. Not the least of which is that many of the things she attempts to discredit her detractors for are evident on this post; taking the word of former staff and owners, going by photographic evidence, telling people to be the eyes, ears and voice for the horses. All things she now claims have no validity. Then her promise that as a responsible rescue she is going to expose abuses and those people that support those `horrific conditions’ is just the icing on the hypocrite cake.
I think that’s pretty much all I have for today. It’s certainly not all I have sitting on my desk, but probably enough to wrap your minds around for now. I have to admit I feel frustrated. We’ve made our submission, things are rolling and really we should be able to coast a bit for now. Instead, Manson and her merry band of accomplices seem to be intent on digging their holes deeper. I personally believe things have gone long past the point of no return as far as Manson and the current board of directors and ranch residents goes, and I wonder why she continues to lie and hoard animals. It’s abundantly clear we’re onto her. She’s like the worst liar ever because she won’t commit to one version of events. Couple that with her verbal diarrhea and malignant personality and she gives us all so much to work with and still she figures she can outshift an army of advocates. One of her favorite whines lately is to say that she doesn’t think we, meaning the haters, meant for things to get this far. She’s wrong. This is exactly how far we meant for things to get and even further. We will not stand for her continued abuse and exploitation of vulnerable animals. We will no longer remain silent as she flaunts her hoarding and grifting in our faces. We will not look the other way as she protects, enables and covers for the very people that are abusing and mangling horses and, most importantly, we will be the voice for those animals and not allow them to be erased off the face of this earth. Welcome to the new world order Manson. It’s just about time for you to sing.

Are we concerned at all that this particular mole describes the brand of car she is driving in her video? I cringed when I heard her say it. I won’t repeat it here but I am just thinking it would be too easy for M and her crew to have an eye out next auction for her. Hopefully it is a non issue and I am just showing early morning paranoia as I have not had my coffee.
I thought the same but I’m a worrier too.
Rental cars, maybe?
Or get ‘em so fixated over looking over their shoulder for that particular brand of car they don’t notice [Other Car Brand].
My thoughts on Blazing Idle are this: It seemed like the previous owner should have investigated the rescue thoroughly being a knowledgeable and experienced horse person. I am a jumble trying to remember all the treads I have read in regards to the issue but the lady that was posting about Blaze for her friend (Rick)? looked to be very involved with horses and very experienced. Is (Rick)? elderly or ill? Did neither of them even visit hi caliber? This didn’t happen years ago or even a year ago but recently and the condition of the ranch has been in disrepair for some time. Long enough for any wanna be “donor” to take their precious cargo (horse) and high tail it out of there with their $1000 dollar donation in tow.
What are people not getting that once you relinquish a horse/dog/cat/pug/calf/goat to a facility that does euthanize that your animal is not guaranteed a tomorrow? That is the part that frustrates me. We all know the horse industry well enough to know that a OTTB brood mare’s owner (unless it’s their first horse experience ever) should know it’s their responsibility to ensure the safe retirement of their horse. From the commentary I was reading it didn’t appear that they ever visited or inquired about Blaze until it was too late. So I am just as upset with them as I am Michelle. Sorry.
Don’t apologize for your feelings.
Keep in mind that they relinquished Blaze at a time before all of this information was coming out about HiCaliber. She was relinquished in April 2017, and even this blog did not get started until May so there wasn’t a lot of information out there floating around about HiCaliber because they deleted any questions or comments that were not 100% positive.
Not everyone is aware of the Shedrow blog even now, and we don’t know if the owner of Blaze was in touch with HiC or not–but even if they were, we all know that M has the ability to tell a feel good story that will snow anyone not familiar with her, if they were sending text messages, etc. Not all areas of the ranch are visible, and as with the SPCA LA, she made it a point to take them on a tour that only included certain areas, leaving the worst cases unseen.
A relinquishment with a donation–regardless of the amount–guarantees certain rights to the donor, whether M was aware of that or not. I am pretty sure that she is kicking herself for NOT realizing that sooner, because people like this can be an important part of the case they are building. By donating money they were doing it with the expectation that their horse would be safe and cared for, or adopted out under the rescue umbrella /contract that would keep her safe. A donation for the horse’s care makes them accountable, so that if the horse should be euthanized, and questions arise out of that euthanization, she should have vet records that back up the decision to euthanize.
I can see your point d. I absolutely agree that M probably painted a picture of heaven on earth for this horse and threw out whatever click bait words were necessary to convince them she was a good place to put it. I am going to give the victim that they never intended for the horse to remain at hi cal forever and were just hoping for the extra help in rehoming. Horses don’t transport and easily though and so the effort to do so is what I am scratching my head over. Why did this horse even need help?
It has been my experience with rescue that whomever has the physical possession of said animal thinks they are always a better advocate for the animal. When I pull a dog from the local shelter and foster it and then send it off to a rescue group often times the rescue group will still treat the dog as though it has been neglected or that it’s vet care has been shoddy. It irks me because I take very good care of every animal that crosses my threshold and I don’t always agree with that they think is a great future home.
If M has your horse and agreed to let you know that she’d call if she can’t rehome it she also can decide that you weren’t that good of a home in the first place and that shooting it would be better. She isn’t exactly thorough or blessed with integrity. The lives of a pet are never worth experimenting this fact on.
Wasn’t Blaze in a good foster for a while and doing well? If her owner tracked her for a few months and knew she was doing well, that may have given him a false sense of security.
Also, I don’t remember reading anywhere, other than from M which carries no credibility for me, that Blaze was ever a brood mare. My impression is that she was Rick’s riding horse and he thought he was ensuring her a good retirement with HC. I would not assume that he was an experienced OTTB brood mare owner.
Actually, Gail put out something about Blaze still being a viable broodmare.
At 20 years old ?
It was posted here by the lady but due to their sorrow, I won’t question it. I can’t imagine what it was like to discover the truth from a bunch of strangers on the internet.
She posted it somewhere in the comments on the last blog.
No kidding, I just thought Manson made that part up to make them sound like bad people.
I am not anti breeding. In this case, even if she could catch, I think having a foal would likely be preferable to being shot in the face.
Did anyone say she had previously been a broodmare?
I believe that she stated that the mare had had four foals and posted pictures of at least one that I saw. Definitely a good looking horse.
Yes i believe so.
She deserved so much better
They all do:/
I am wondering why she had to leave foster.
She may not have had to leave foster for any reason other than Manson thought she was costing too much money and brought her back to HiCaliber.
And by all accounts she looked great when the fosters returned her. As we have seen from some of the guest posters on the blog, though, the fosters frequently have to send the horses back, like Nala and others.
That’s terrible. All to save a buck.
Her fosters wrote the post that I had in the screen shot that said they were looking for her in south herd. They were looking for her because she had recently been returned.
Because they sent Paula to those same people, I think. That’s what Manson does. Sends one to foster to fatten up and once they start looking decent, she’ll take it back and send them something else skinny that she can’t afford to feed.
I didn’t know that. What a bitch…
She was. That poor foster has put weight on a few HiCaliber horses only for them to take them back and shoot them. It’s a wonder she and her husband still volunteer.
She may well have been a broodmare. If that was the case, surrendering her to a rescue with money to pay for her keep until she could be placed is responsible. Plenty of people just dump their broodmares and recip mares with KBs.
One more thing, is it possible that M went home with a trailer full of decrepit “free” horses? If the flippers can’t run them through auction and they would have to haul them back home because M couldn’t publicly fundraise wouldn’t they just dump them on her so they wouldn’t have to even deal with feeding or transporting them? Or are those guys that bad that starving a horse that is in pain for another week or two is worth a few extra dineros??
I am so repulsed by the mentality of horse traders. They make me sick and the fact that California is turning a blind eye that this shit is even occurring. If we know they “trip” horses why are these men still free to do so?
It’s a possibility, but I doubt they were free–maybe one to two hundred dollars.
Keep in mind that in addition to all of the responsible rescue fees, M jacks up the prices on the purchases, too. Most of the other KB’s, etc will add an extra 100-150 dollars to the profit margin for purchasing it and then the broker (in this case, M) adds on another amount for profit. Just watch when the people at Lancaster and Mike’s auction post the purchase prices for horses that went through the ring the night before.
There is no way that person would get 700.00 if they had even attempted to run that sore horse through the auction ring, and M is probably tacking on additional amounts for profit the same way that she does the hay purchases, dentals, etc.
Can you all still tolerate me if I post another query? Sorry. I just wanted to say something about people that keep hoping the owner of the property will care about the conditions and evict M. If it is owned in trust it is very likely that the people involved have money and don’t really care much about the property or it’s condition because they are busy, old, living elsewhere, etc. With rent of only $5000 how is that even comparable to going rental rates? I would love to know the back story. That poor property is neglected and could have been amazing. With that many domiciles on it the rent from each would have more than covered the lease. And she has a lease to own option? Seriously.
I believe the Owner’s will care when they start getting fines for their rental property not being in County compliance. I don’t care what agreement they made with Michelle, it is their responsibility as the property owner’s.
If this will work, this is the property before HiKill turned it into a dump and killing field. What a shame. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/11223-Calle-Oro-Verde_Valley-Center_CA_92082_M22634-81335#photo23
Wow, it was beautiful. That kitchen….
It’s probably unrecognizable now. Pet poo all over takes away from the pleasant surroundings somewhat.
It didn’t quite look like that when I visited a year and a half ago. Such a shame.
Well, $8000 a month will get you a horse property w/ 92 acres in Valley Center (just saw an ad yesterday), so their rent sounds a little high actually, for the amount of acreage they have. But in that area, it all really depends on the rest of the neighborhood. The are really pricey ones, and then there are the lower rent ones.
Add the other houses, barn, etc.
True, I had forgotten about the additional dwellings. I think the $5000 is probably a pretty good deal for all that. Or was before M the trashy moved in.
They have really done a number on that property. The damages are probably in the six figures. Hope the landlord got a big security deposit.
The property owners may not care about the fact Michele has turned that place into the Killing Fields but I would think they would be upset with all the damage done to the property.
Not sure what they deal with that is considering the original agreement was for them to buy the property at the end of a term. That got renegotiated, but still not sure there is a deposit.
scam-du-jour:
Azteca yearling looking for home, owners taking her to auction w/ $500 reserve…”desperate family emergency”
“if a villager wants her, owners will donate $100 to HC (once we are able to accept funds) as that’s the money they would have had to pay the house for fees anyway. This is a nice family who have had a catastophic change to their lives and income. If interested, message the page”
would that “family” happen to be the Manson family? who wants to bet this horse is already at HC or already under the tarp?
I wonder if that’s the same grey azteca they tried to get a month or two ago and was at Misners?
That crazy bitch is live at auction showing what would happen without them.
“I’m not a vet but I play one on Facebook, just kidding.” Truer words were never spoken.
she is unreal, isn’t that nuts? they haven’t bid at Ontario in a long time…they prefer Misner buy-backs & illegal parking lot deals w/ Salvador & Nacho
Here comes the manic meltdown!
So apparently she did get a mention from the powers above for facilitating private buys last week.
now she’s trying to jedi-mind-trick VI’s: buyer doesn’t want horse he bought anymore & didn’t know another horse was a stud, so didn’t want him either… this reeks of Misner-buy-backs
It’s the same old song and dance her and Romney are always pulling ” oh no the buyer backed out”
Double grifting Tuesdays!
Misner must not have balls or something since he seems to keep buying studs and getting surprised by their balls. Manson needs to find some new material.
Amanduh should teach a course for Misner on how to spot balls…teach it right at the auction and include all those other clueless buyers.
Manson could teach it too. Remember when she gathered the kids around at her open house day last fall and taught them how to cup balls in Astro’s (RIP) `pretty pink balls’?
Classy
What happened to Astro? He had too many issues? Poor guy!
I think believe they couldn’t get him comfortable as far as his soundness issues. They tried very hard from what I’m told, but in the end he was suffering and there was nothing else they could do for him so they let him go.
That’s sad for all involved. I’m very sorry for their loss. I’m glad he went somewhere that have him a real effort and love.
I am alsoglad he didn’t get a bullet to the head.
What purpose is there in them going to auction. Can they NOT stay home and care for the poor horses they have? Not waste valuable time and resources driving to an auction when they damn well shouldn’t be buying? Good lord.
I was thinking the same. Robyn and Tom need to be there? For what??? Guess they have nothing to do at the ranch. Amazing. They have to do something to keep the drama going for the VI.
I can see Robyn being there, she’s M’ s shadow, but why Tom???
From what I understand he’s never been to the ranch. He’s just a nice retired guy that likes horses and this is what he does on Tuesdays. I really don’t think he’s part of their scamming which is why he sometimes says the wrong thing on live feed because he has no clue what stories M tells. Personally, I think they treat him like shit most of the time. I feel kinda badly for him.
I believe Tom lives close and is retired. He used to front the cash for them.
Of course not, but don’t forget that she is there with an empty truck and trailer. Who is to say that it is going home empty?
On the other hand, if she has the ability to pimp herself out for transport, it is a way to make some money, and Lord knows she needs that. Rent and BMW payments need to be made, damn it!
If they do live videos, it connects them with their village, and by making them aware that they cannot publicly fundraise nor facilitate 3rd party buys, it doesn’t mean that someone cannot pm them privately to ask them to make it happen. That is just a supposition, of course. The other half of her going was so that she could rag on other rescues for not going. I have absolutely no problem with rescues who know their limits and stick to what they know they can or can’t do, I’d rather see that than someone stupid enough to be influenced by peer pressure and take on more than they can afford.
I didn’t catch much of a glimpse of that Frieisan, but the two seconds I saw of him looked almost like stringhalt.
Stringhalt?
Stringhalt is an issue with horses tendons that can be neurological, or potential plant toxicity and can even develop overnight. It can be recognized by the horses hind legs jerking up towards their bellies as they walk, either unilaterally or bilaterally.
This horse has it in one hind, and the severity varies depending on the animal. I’ve seen some horses that literally kick their bellies with every stride.
“Stringhalt is a gait abnormality characterized by exaggerated upward flexion of the hindlimb that occurs at every stride at walk. The gait abnormality usually lessens at trot and is not evident at canter. It may occur unilaterally or bilaterally. All degrees of hyperflexion are seen, from mild, spasmodic lifting and grounding of the foot, to extreme cases in which the foot is drawn sharply up until it touches the belly and is then struck violently on the ground. In severe cases, there is atrophy of the lateral thigh muscles. In Australian stringhalt and lathyrism, the condition may be progressive and the gait abnormality may become so severe that euthanasia is warranted. Mild stringhalt may be intermittent. The signs are most obvious when the horse is sharply turned or backed. In some cases, the condition is seen only on the first few steps after moving the horse. The signs are often less intense or even absent during warmer weather. Although it is regarded as unsoundness, stringhalt may not materially hinder the horse’s ability to work, except in severe cases when the constant concussion gives rise to secondary complications. However, the condition may make the horse unsuitable for some equestrian disciplines (eg, dressage).” https://www.merckvetmanual.com/musculoskeletal-system/lameness-in-horses/stringhalt
False dandelions, originating in Australia, were discovered to cause stringhalt and we have many varieties of it here, as well.
Wow! That’s strange to watch. Poor horse! Does it ever go completely away in some cases? Like if they eat false dandelion and then it’s purged from their system?
I had to look it up on YouTube because my phone and table don’t show videos or working links.
Now I’m looking up false dandelion for I can check that off my list of worries.
Thanks for explaining!
She had new eyelashes, nails and eyebrows today so she’s obviously gotten some cash gifted or dipped the kid’s support payment.
Does anybody actually believe she’ll go home with an empty trailer? Couple of those horses were sore as boils and likely candidates for the blue tarp. I’m sure she’ll have somebody buy and donate them so she can fill her weekly kill quota.
So let me get this straight. M is still openly going to auction, still rescuing horses, still transporting them, still turning the day into a Housewives of Valley Center day out where she gets coifed up with nails, hair, and eyebrows on fleek, complete with the coffee stops, and restaurant stops all filmed live. She then returns to her version of Equine Aushwitz where she can pretend to care and have a vet on scene to not really treat the incoming horses and then she can self diagnose and shoot those she chooses? Or is it that she no longer needs a vet? So what has changed? Oh yes, she can’t charge her usual “responsible rescue fees” ie grafting fees. That is the only difference. Good job California authorities. She has definitely learned the error of her ways.
She looked freshly botoxed. It was scary. Not pretty at all.
@Cool Aide: I saw on another forum that the girl who adopted Astro (for $1) had him a few months but could no longer manage his issues and he had to be put down.
So sorry for her… I’m glad that she was able to get him out and give him some love.
M really ought to start having some concern about her business practices while they’re delinquent. Now’s the time for her to try to save herself before things crumble even more. Stay at the ranch, showcase horses that will be available for adoption once they’re out of delinquency, clean up the ranch, etc. Did they not get the memo that the planning committee won’t move forward with their permit until they’re in compliance with the regulations and resolve the current issues? It’s actually far more rewarding to do this work than it is to drive to auction when you legally have your hands tied – despite the fact that she’s obviously going to try to sneak around laws. It’s amusing how immature she is and how she has such poor judgment when it comes to the path she’s going down. Change course, M. Start caring about your fate.
Agreed. Perhaps she should have stayed at home rounding up those pesky receipts.
Anyone else notice how she referred to the Friesian cross as a “thing?”
Do most ‘things’ get rewarded with a bullet?
And now they claim the horse was “purchased by a previous adopter.” I’m sort of curious why he doesn’t show up on the price list.
She often refers to animals as `things’ and not a a term of endearment like `ahhh, you poor thing’, but a term of disgust like `this thing’.
Because as she said, he has been tossed around from trader to trader in the parking lot. So parking lot sales are legal? It’s like selling in the parking lot of the swap meet to avoid the pesky booth rental feees. Stay classy Ontario Auction House.
Well he does appear to be the exact same horse they did a PB post for last week and hastily removed. I’m sure had he been offered to A Little Rescue he wouldn’t have had to suffer an additional week and would have already seen a real vet.
I think auction is a social occasion for M. She takes a ride, gets Starbucks, fast food, hobnobs with her fellow low-lifes and grifters. It’s the high point of her week and she won’t give it up, she’ll just take the grifting off camera.
Chores? Those are for her volunteers/slaves.
Funny story:
Every Tuesday for the live feeds a long distance friend of mine, as well as a reader of the blog, get together on FB messenger, watch the videos and exchange notes as we watch them– so we have in essence turned it into a social occasion for us.
Imagine my surprise this morning when I woke up to a large box on my porch this morning, delivered from Amazon and when I opened it, she had sent me a case of some awesome popcorn to eat while we watch the auction videos LOL. We’ve seen some pretty horrible crap on those auction videos–thankfully, today was not one of them–so I definitely appreciated the laugh!
I LOVE that!
Manson isn’t that social. I think auction is her cash cow and she is attempting to keep the village on schedule and tuning in on Tuesdays so she can get back to seriously and hardcore grifting once their paperwork is in. Don’t think for a second she isn’t still grifting there each week. I recall when auction was closed over Christmas that she made a comment about keeping her village on a schedule as an explanation for her driving all the way out there on a Tuesdayd and still doing parking lot deals.
She’s stupid enough to think that them not moving forward is a good thing. Also, why waste all that time and effort showcasing horses when you can just shoot them in the face and go for Chick Fil A or Del Taco?
Or both. They eat going to and coming back from auction. On the way up I think they do the drive thru version and in the way back with suffering horses standing or collapsing in the hi cal/M trailer they stop and dine in at a nicer place. You know like a typical person with a personality disorder does? If it doesnt make sense it usually means it doesn’t make sense. In M’s case she thinks it makes her special. A rebel, a leader, a trail blazer of sorts. Too bad she has no clue what a malignant narcissist is.
Don’t forget the stop for donuts for the auction staff on the way.
I laugh at her little “Paypal explanation” video. She claims the spyware was to deal with a board member who was feeding things to her ex. Clever girl, since if I recall a former HiCaliber member, who was M’s good friend, started dating her now-ex-husband. So it’s not ‘technically’ a lie, right?
She actually married M’s ex.
Couldn’t make this BS up. Unless it were a soap opera.
Love how last week the rescues were driving the prices up and that was huge problem. Today the prices were low and that was really worrying Michelle. Go home lady please, you are embrassing yourself more then usual! The rescues that aren’t there are at home taking care of the horses in their care, as you should be doing.
She also stated that the truck and trailer are her private property? Is that true? Do she pay for the insurance and registration? I have no idea, I’m just thinking that should be looked into if she is offering her hauling services today. Please note all horses will be subjected to waiting in the trailer while she stops to get a burgerchickensandwichtacolattefrappuccinopizza on her way.
If she is hauling for compensation (which she stated she is), her vehicle is considered a commercial vehicle and she needs a DOT (Department of Transportation) number.
Couldn’t there also be some repercussion to her using the trailer which is a charitable asset?
Possibly if she was making money from using it, but that would be hard to prove if the trailer in her name. Richie would need to audited too to find out what the real deal was.
I wonder if that agency has been notified.
It’s always been my understanding that truck and trailer both were donated to the rescue and M put them in her name.
She never got a truck donated. her truck is the one she had when she was still married from what I understand. It never belonged to the rescue although the rescue gasses it up and other things.
The truck is hers, but the trailer was bought by Richie Price as far as I know.
Does anyone know who’s property that little Azteca yearling courtesy post on their page is?
Might be Misner’s. If you recall, Manson tried to peddle one to the village a few months ago along with another horse. The filly was then returned to Misner’s and was seen out front in his pens for several weeks. Manson even commented on it when she drove by there at one time. It could be the same filly, but I’m not sure. I was out all day so just catching up.
I’m confused why the owners of the property aren’t doing anything about the fact that the property has been destroyed. What was once a beautiful farm/ranch, which if I’m not mistaken, was to be for the mother-in-law to live and raise a few horses.
I think they thought HiCaliber was going to purchase the property. No telling what lies they’ve been fed along the way either.
According to M, they still are.
According to her, they also are delinquent because she forgot to file a mere “form,” instead of the single most important set of paperwork that a charitable organization can file. On the other hand, if she really believes that, what is actually going to happen soon will be the equivalent of a bowling ball upside along the head.
That’s funny and sweet.
There’s just a bunch of fucking bullshit going on at their page right now. They act like they own the horses from auction . What are they doing?
now they’re advertising another stallion whose buyer doesn’t want him anymore, what a load of crap
Ok. so listened to Michele babble on her “poor me” feed. She said everyone was bringing horses to auction thinking they were going to get high prices because the other rescues that came the week before paid too much. Then 30 seconds later she is saying how worried she is about the horses because voldy is getting them for such a low price. So which is it Michelle ?
TBH I’d guess that the dealers came because they heard about last week and higher prices so they came hoping to make it happen for themselves, but it didn’t—it was the usual crowd except for the new traders, who of course weren’t buying, they were selling.
You can see that phenomenon across the US because word passes amongst traders faster than the speed of light, make no doubt about it.
Funny thing about it is that no one questions why those horses went through in the 200.00 range, except perhaps that handsome gray, who went for higher–yet none of the villagers question how just about every horse at auction that M purchases runs approximately 650.00 plus responsible rescue fees.
D – Good point about the high prices Michele is paying.
Also no one questioning why, unlike last week, no flippers bidding up the horses that run through.
Oh, you caught that too. LOL! Guess we get to pick.
Well since we get to choose, I’ll go with Michele is a liar !
Right, because she never busy horses from him.
Love it!!!
I want a tiara, too!! (Even if I’m not in on the joke)
LOL it made me laugh even though we had no idea if it would be a horrible auction day or not! (On a side note, I’d never heard of that brand of popcorn, and it is REALLY good. I will be purchasing some when I am finished with this case!) I even sent a couple packages with my honey to work, even though he was embarrassed by the name on the package. It is something called “Boom Chicka pop.”
I’ll chip in for you!!! You all involved in getting this shit show shut down are my hero’s. I think shed should write a how to book for stopping this shit. I’ve been working on a so called rescue for years and never got this far. They’re not as bad but I did adopt an OTTB from them just to save him from starving. He was a HBS if 1.5 yet they were riding him he did not come that way off the track. It is very difficult to get these people on abuse. He was a four and they had him for six months when I picked him up. He’s the reason I question all rescues because some people don’t realize the true word of rescue.
It is a lot of people that have been involved in shutting this down, starting with the moles. If it were not for them, none of this might have seen the light of day. They deserve most of the thanks.
You are definitely right to question any rescue. Those who are transparent and accountable will have no problem with answering any questions that you might have.
Sadly, many people don’t know how to let a racehorse down fresh off the track. Many people mean well but end up with a skeleton on their hands in short order. I don’t think they can full appreciate how much those horses are fed as far as hot feed. You can’t just yank it all away at once.
Costco sells Boom Chicka Pop! It’s very good.
I avoid Costco like the plague!
I’ve seen that brand. Its good? Because I only really like movie popcorn or cinnamon popcorn.
Nothing can beat Caramel Corn.
Yes, that’s awesome too especially when mixed with the cinnamon flavored stuff.
If you pop your own corn you can season it anyway you like that’s good too. Garlic salt or what ever you like.
Now I want to try it.
It’s pretty good!
Is it flavored or?
She sent me the kettle corn, so it is lightly sweet and salty.
OMG, I LOVE Kettle Corn.
Me, too, second only to Caramel Corn. (I’ve got a good recipe for Caramal Corn BTW Shed)
I am totally jonesing for popcorn now but far too lazy to go out and get some. Thanks for that D.
LOL that was why I had to laugh–I’d been kind of craving it, but was faced with too many decisions, so I left. Then the next morning I wake up, and there was a case of it on my porch! It was like magic! Thank goodness for sisters from another mother.
❤️
I was too made some yesterday. 😉
I started to throw together some popcorn myself, and then I got distracted.
I hate this rainy weather.
The rain never bothered me till I owned horses. It’s just so much more work. Trying to clean stalls and muddy horses and I have a nice barn but they lay down in it.
Believe me, I get it
Question
Why do people keep saying there are no kill buyers in California because of the impotent , once slightly enforced law that it’s illegal to ship from Ca ?
Go to auctions and watch the likes of Don Gatz buy lame old geldings for $300 and truck loads of horses you can’t flip easy and explain why he is doing that ?
Just because something is illegal doesn’t mean it isn’t done If that held water there would be no jails or prisons
And Misner sends horses to Chavez.
The point is that you cannot build up something that brings in a million dollars a year on an openly illegal act, in this case.
I don’t understand what you’ mean when you say “ build up something “
We know that horses from Ca still ship Why is it always played off on this blog that just because it’s “ illegal “ it’s not happening
I’ve never said it’s not happening. I’ve said that it’s illegal which it is. My issue is that rather than bust somebody who is illegally shipping for the purposes of slaughter, Manson helps him by lining his pocket and, don’t forget, she tried to ship Snuggles to slaughter before she got caught and had to do some heavy damage control.
You cannot build your business on an illegal act. The slaughter business is illegal in California. It should not exist. If business of any sort is built on an illegal act, that business is illegal. See drug confiscation laws. If Manson has inside information and refuses to work with law enforcement but instead capitalizes on it – she is guilty too. As are the donors who fund HiC’s engagement.
Why is that so difficult for people to understand? You know, I’ve been thinking that the donors should be sent notices (by law enforcement) that they are complicity participating in this illegal trade in slaughter. They are. Every ad that Manson and Romney (Robyn and Tom and others at the auction) put out there informs their donors that the horses are ensnared in the slaughter trade (at the auction) and knowingly exchange $$ with individuals they have identified as bad guys..
I don’t think anyone said there are no kb’s in CA. That would be incredibly naive. What they have said is that since HC claims they know these horses are going to slaughter, what is it specifically that they know, and why aren’t they reporting it and making every possible effort to stop it?
Instead they are helping to support the dealers that they themselves are ‘outing’ as kb’s, if one is to believe their rallying cry of ‘saving them from slaughter’.
I suspect the real truth is that HC has learned that their village loves the feeling of a ‘save’ from slaughter, reliably every week on Tuesday. That’s what they are selling, in effect, that feeling of just having ‘saved’ a horse.
And as we know, most of the horses they ‘save’ aren’t eligible for slaughter anyway. Even if inspections are lax, etc., many of these horses are three-legged lame and not going to pass even a cursory glance.
Also, no KB would bother shipping an emaciated horse because a) they would likely get rejected and b) it is taking up room from a horse in good weight that could turn a profit for them.
Exactly. We are talking Mexico. Like they care about what comes into their yards. Canada is much more humane and being that CA and Mexico practically overlap I bet you are right on the money.
Manson’s argument is you’ll never catch them all or stop them so may as well work with them. I guess if you want to use that line of logic, you’ll never catch every drunk driver or stop them all so Chick Fil A should sell alcohol out the drive thru window and cops s
hould just not bother trying to stop people. Right?.
If only Michelle could find herself a “Jacob Thompson”. She and Tara have more in common than either of them are willing to admit.
The very thought terrifies me.
Right. Matter of fact, why have laws at all.
Let’s do chaos!
We can all just roll in the dirt, drive souped up cars with swords on the hubcaps and call ourselves Mad Maxx.
Manson and Romney (Tom, Robyn, Ingrid, et al) are just common criminals who belongs in jail.
Manson’s thinking makes as much sense as when the drunk drive wrecks his car they should step up and buy it so he can get another one and give him enough for more alcohol.
Funny how that works–by the same token she claims that her AC background makes her uniquely qualified to prosecute animal cruelty offenders. So which is it, M? Fight for the animals, or just start your own market by buying them with other people’s money, which you then use to line your own pockets?
Totally random as I’ve not read any comments this afternoon, but a friend just sent me this and I thought I would share it with you all:
AN INDIAN LEGEND SAYS:
“When a human dies, there is a bridge they must cross to enter into Heaven. At the head of the bridge waits every animal that human ever encountered during their lifetime. The animals, based on what they know of this person, decide which humans may cross the bridge…and which are turned away.”
That would be Karma at its finest.

I believe Shed has shared this before. Its nice.
I must’ve missed it. 😊
Yup, I’ve mentioned that before and I passionately hope it’s true.
When is the last time HC bought a useful type of mostly sound horse? One that might actually be a slaughter candidate, and is also reasonably adoptable? I seem to remember that they used to do that, but it seems lately that only the most miserable cases and foals are what they bring home.
Of course there may be others we don’t know about.
Manson actually puts the word out that she wants the crippled and mangled ones. She’s also said on camera that they get the most donations. Her village doesn’t respond to healthy horses usually.
Forgotten Horses gets ones like that as well as ones in poor condition. And of course they get trashed by the village idiots for picking up “fat, shiny horses to flip”. Yeah, not quite, you morons. Personally I think it’s a good thing to get a horse before it’s completely a goner and get it healthy and tuned up and adopted. And compassion pulls are needed, too. But supporting horse trippers, grifting, lying, and killing horses on a whim, um no.
Say it TSH!
FHR also picks up a lot of older horses and rehabs them. The kind of horses Manson would shoot within 2 days. The reason their horses are fat and shiny is because they actually take care of them and upgrade them. No wonder the village idiots are confused.
So I think a lot of us would be secretly at least a little bit glad of a day off work, if our usual employment was taken away from us for a day, or a week or three.
But yep, there HC/Michelle is at auction, just like clockwork. With nothing to do. But walk around videoing to show she has nothing to do. [Y’all do realize that that particular live feed is documenting that she is *not* buying horses, in case anyone is watching that could make a problem for her that she is there during the stand-still period. 😉 ]
So I’m thinking this: Would it be true that Michelle has been attending that auction, or one like it, every dam Tuesday since she became a horse dealer/flipper herself, after the accident and the lawsuit? Before HiCaliber was even thought of. Because her own bio talks about getting in to the horse business once her ACO job was done for (maybe even while she was still an ACO), and how it evolved into full-time ‘rescue’. Because Romney pointed out to her what the $$ potential was … she & Romney both are in internet print on that point.
So I’m really wondering if it is possible that Michelle does some straight-up flips on the side, and that might be a source of income for her, since that is what she used to do pre-HC. Completely off the HC radar. NOT saying that she does, I have no idea. But wondering, given the trailer rolling out to auction like an old milk run horse on route, and dealers clearly doing deals with her on the mole video … HiCaliber or no HiCaliber.
I’m going to be honest, here: I really don’t understand the rescues all going to auction almost every week. I get that there are horses that need help, but I’m vehemently against paying flippers so they can get more animals to exploit and abuse. I wish that AC in SoCal had some stones and would make a case against people like Salvador and Misner. I wish they’d put some investigators in or subcontract real horse people to actually do the inspections and farm visits when they get a complaint. For me, a big part of rescue should be to constantly be trying to work yourself out of a job and you’ll never do that by buying up all the horses. You do it be changing the system that is creating the problem.
In my life I have seen three types of people. There are no gray areas here.
1. Knowledgeable horse people.
2. People who think they are knowledgeable horse people.
3. People who want nothing to do with horses.
Until people in authority either employ or consult the number 1 types we will have a hard time ever seeing any real change in the quality of life for horses. Dogs and cats have their advocates and even they sometimes are only in it as a job and have little real applicable dog/cat knowledge. With horses though you can’t fake it. You have to know them and know what they need. California being a state that loves big government should be the forefront for a new way to handle horse care/neglect/abuse issues. But as of yet I see little that impressed me or makes me proud of my home state or even my county.
Most civil service positions are just a depository for “someone” loooking for a job – with no real education or – gasp – experience in the business of the agency hired into. They may have a degree in something but seldom in the arena the job is located. It is no surprise, inspectors have little to go on when the abuse or neglect is right in front of them. Also, case analysts change like underwear hawking for that next promotion – leaving projects cold – so you are so right – to enforce laws protecting horses, cows, dogs, kids, elderly – the expertise to do that job well has to be experience. But of course interviewing candidates is a whole ‘nother story. .
It takes active pushing by citizenry to keep investigations going and pointed in the right direction. Rescues are front line witness and can get the ball roling. It’s on them really. But the business of keeping funds rolling in, horses fed and cared for takes a lot of energy with not much left over for waving a rolled up newspaper at a sluggish law enforcement agency.
For me – after so many frustrating legal attempts to enforce laws, auctions are the cesspool that the abusers (dispersals too) shed the horses to their fate. Maybe we need to look at shutting those down – unless law enforcement starts to do their job to ensure humane conditions and actualy send the bad guys to jail. The luxury of the DA to delay prosecution for years is another problem – no excuse for these lengthy delays except it is systemic.
If you look at the number of “free to good home” ads on Craigslist or Facebook on any given day, you can see that there really is no need for any rescue to go to auction. So many free horses in need of help as is!
Jan, I must take offense at your comments. As a civil servant who works with several other very educated, motivated individuals all in our field of study, I must say you are very misguided. Also, yes, it’s my day off.
Animal Control officers are notoriously overworked, underpaid and poorly trained. If we want true professionals who are going to have the requisite skills and support to go after habitual animal abusers, WE as citizens need to make that a priority. I have made contact with the SD County Supervisors many times regarding their animal services contracts. I encourage everyone to do the same in your local communities.
It takes me a while to digest all the information on each post. This morning I am thinking about all those horses that keep escaping the rickety enclosures. That older volunteer said she was literally holding up a fence while texting her husband to come help. That is crazy dangerous and disgusting that they would put their volunteers in harms way. The husband seems to be the only real man on that property, he’s always the one fixing stuff.
I don’t get that. I always kept a hammer, nails and staples in the golf cart when I fed or did waters. Horse push fences and as a horse owner, I just naturally always check fences and am prepared to tack one together. How can Manson and the rest of the residents sit on their asses in their houses and not do a property check daily? How did they let these fences get so bad? It looks like the place is falling down around their ears.
It does!! This just looks like a bunch of people that don’t give a rat’s ass about themselves (aside from lashes and nails) or the animals or the property. M loves to cut the other rescues a new one, every chance she gets, but compare those other properties and the condition of the animals to HC. Those other women are out there working every damn day and hard work! At least one has no volunteers! They aren’t on every damn web page daily or making 2 hour “poor me” videos either. Maybe they could go out and at least groom a horse!
If all the energy that is put into the number of Facebook Pages and people who spend time tearing each other apart was put into pulling together and lobbying for enforcement of laws preventing animal abuse it would be time well spent.
Rewarding people who engage in not only illegal activities but ones that are cruel and exploit innocent animals is unconscionable.
Manson could have chosen to work for the betterment of animals but she chose make money off of them instead. She is no better than the tripper, the feedlot owner or the knacker. In many ways she is worse she pretends to be in it for the horses but is actually only in it for herself. Yesterday at the auction every time she said, “That horse needed us” I heard, “We could have made money off of that one.”
Where would these horses go if HiKill was not there to save them? Without funding the abusers so they can purchase more horses and creating a safety net for those people who need to relinquish before the horses end up there there would be no need for HiKill to operate in that capacity.
I’m a little confused by the PayPal charges that have an address instead of a business name. I looked up the addresses and got a car wash, Vons, and the El Cajon Blvd one had three businesses at that address; The Glass House, which sells hookahs, pipes, etc., a flooring store and a hair and nail salon. Why doesn’t the charge have a business name? Was it an ATM?
Sorry, I changed my previous answer. Buyers/sellers on paypal used to be able to hide their names depending on what accounts they used.
It will state an ATM withdrawal on the records if it was an ATM–but that address may have changed hands since then (hence different business names), since those records hit mid 2015.
There are a lot for 1000 W El Norte Place, but those are all purchases and it looks as though it is a strip mall. https://www.regencycenters.com/property/detail/648/El-Norte-Pkwy-Plaza
1000 W El Norte Place looks like Vons with a Starbucks, from the pictures. Probably getting Hot Chocolate for the Volunteers.
If you go back to my original post about financials `Ask And You Shall Receive’, I explain the charges on El Cajon Blvd.
Will check those!
The poop page is interesting. It is worth reading. They posted info on Gail Ruffio of the Blaze situation. It was something that happened in 2007 but dirt is dirt.
They don’t seem worried at all about anything.
Then I read on Hi Caliber Horror Story about the landlords and the property. It appears that the owners do know about the situation but because rent is paid each month on time there is not much they can do. The agreement was for five years and it was a lease to own option. So M is trying to raise $17000 for the down payment as of 25 weeks ago. She was at that point threatening to be shut down if they don’t pay for the permits? Whadafu?
It’s just all so mind boggling.
I don’t brush any of the various pages or groups as nonsense.
We can differ on whether or not they produce anything worth reading or not, but we’d prefer to keep all FB pages off of this site.
I don’t keep up with the shitheads on the poop page. Their sole purpose is to attempt to bully people into silence so the abuse can continue. If you don’t pay them any attention they have no sway.
Horror Story doesn’t have the story exactly accurate and I don’t really have the energy to get all into it now. It also doesn’t really matter. Focus on the things that are within your control and what the property owners do or do not do is not one of those things. They are educated people and they are aware of what is going on. That is all there is to be done there. Also M can raise all the down payments she wants, but it’s not going to help her get financing and anybody that would cosign for her deserves to lose everythign they own.
I can’t believe more than one person donated $2500. Who does that with a group like Michelle’s? She is so far over her limit in all areas of her life. Her mangled attempt at looking like a Housewife of Orange County. Her inability to stop bringing horses to her property, the food, the stupid hi calorie Starbucks drinks, she can’t stop herself.
And another thing I have noticed with people like her is that they are never generous with their excess. She won’t share her money with anyone. She won’t share extra feed or medicines, tack or ranch equipment. All of it has a $ value. It’s so repulsive to think anyone finds her worthy of imitating.
I finally watched the two recent videos on hi cal page from yesterday. Can I just say that I don’t miss Romney at all! As much as I dislike M I will take her over RFB any day of the week. I hope she stays gone. I hope M follows soon after.
The owners of that property can get out of that lease if they wanted to due to the condition of the property and the code violations. It would take time and money, Manson could squat and go the distance which could take months to get them out. I don’t know if it can get any worse, a lot of damage has already been done.
Manson will never be able to get a loan on that property and it would cost them considerably more to own it then the nominal amount they pay in rent.
Nobody ever said Manson was a smart business person other than herself and we all know if her mouth is open, there is either food going in or lies falling out of it.
LOL. Seriously the sad part about that is that it’s the honest to God Truth.
It’s funny too!
They don’t care about the animals their only purpose is to silence people who speak out against HiKill.
I adopted from HC four years ago. I knew nothing of them before that. I followed them after. Then they started going to Ontario auction every week. At first, I thought that they saved SO MANY horses. Then I started feeling exhausted by the posts for donations and wondered how they could care cor so many. I couldn’t give that often. I had my own horses to support. ( plus kids and dogs) Lots of red flags started popping up. My very knowledgeable horse friend adopted from them twice. As far as I know, she still supports them. I tried to stay neutral, but I knew things were wrong. I joined the “discussion” page, but was disappointed to see the admin there sharing stuff from discussion page on poop page and commenting saying things that were not true. I PMd her asking why she would do that, and NEVER got a reply. This may seem irrelevant, but I think it turns “fence sitters” against HC. I was trying to stay neutral in case there was a horse that I HAD to get out of HC. I finally got the boot when I said HC was irresponsible for letting their followers blame haters for Umbra’s demise. I want to send my HC supporter friend the SS of the pug purchase, but wonder if she would see it like most sane people do. I tried to get my “deep pockets” family member to give to HC a few years ago. I’m so happy that he chose the German Shepherd rescue instead. Sorry for long-winded post. I actually have so much more I want to say!
Let it out friend, almost everyone here has. They all started off supporting HiC and are upset. This is a good place to say it and The Glorified Shit Heads may exploit it but the truth is the truth.
TY. So dentals not done on our adopted horse, I’m guessing. Our regular vet said molars were so long, he wanted a specialist to do it. Since that was done by us, no floating needed three years after. On “discussion” page, I offered my experience with the reputation HC was getting in the local horse community and thoughts about how they could help turn it around. I realized they weren’t concerned about that and never asked for my opinion anyway. Was trying to be helpful and hopeful, but M knew better than me and her local reputation. Too bad, I really was trying to help at that point. I feel they deserve the backlash now for their arrogance. Also, I never said anything against HC on social media until I told THEM they were being ridiculous with their accisations about Umbra. That’s enough to get banned. I’ve been speculative since last summer and thank Shedrow for bringing the truth out. I will do what I can in San Diego to see that HC stops grifting and killing/abusing horses. I’m not a “key player” but the horse commumity is small, and I’ve been a part of it in San Diego for 35 years.
Small streams and all of that…
I think that any person that has spoken out for the horses has been beneficial (IMO)
They have driven away so many real and knowledgeable horse people in the past few years. I think they actually feel threatened by actual horse people because they can see them for the novices they are.
NopeNopeNope, I’m not a ‘key’ player either, but my level headed patient self has been able to make some people in this small horse world aware of what is just going on at HC and getting others involved in helping the horses to get out of there and get HC shut down. HC is beyond righting the ship. There are so many fundamental issues starting back at the beginning of HC that include lying and scamming and it has just grown into this big scamming rescue that doesn’t care for the horses and that’s ok with them. It’s not ok with the rest of us. I’m thankful for those willing to get the facts out there, especially Shedrow Confessions as that has helped me fill some of the holes that I couldn’t figure out.
Don’t ever tell yourself that you are not a “key player.” For each and every one of us willing to read Shedrow, to contribute knowledge and experience, to speak out and get people to pay attention, that is what makes each and every one of us essential to this effort. Shed started out feeling as though she were the lone voice in this effort, as did the volunteers and moles who despaired of people ever listening. None of this could have been done without the efforts of everyone involved, which makes everyone a key player. You are appreciated. (PS did I use the word efforts enough? LOL!)
Feel free to vent. I’m sure we’d all like to hear about your rescued horse too. We like happy stories. As far as your friend goes, sooner or later most real horse people will have their own lightbulb moment about HiCaliber if they follow them at all. For many non-horse people their unprofessional and vulgar social media presence is a huge turn off. You can still be edgy and professional. I think it was easier to overlook how disgusting Manson can be when she was actually showcasing some horses and not `starring’ in her own internet reality show.
Well you are welcome to say it here and you even get blocked. Lol
I hope you meant don’t even get blocked. Very rare I block people.
Sorry, I meant to say you won’t even get blocked.
Oh please don’t let that stop You. This is really the only place you can speak from your heart and everyone listens.
Feel free to say what you want.
I’ve got a friend whose family established a Foundation that gives money to worthy charities annually, of which HiC was one for the last couple of years. I’m so glad that she was open minded enough to listen when we began speaking out about it, ask questions, and eventually cut off that avenue of support for them, which was at least a four figure amount. Many people, and I have no idea if your friend is one–are going to shut down and bury their heads if presented with pictures/stories/inconvenient truths., sadly enough.
We paid $1200 for our 15 year old rescue horse. Got him at the end of June. Was told his adoption was $1500, but I said it was listed at $1200 on the web site. M let us have the $1200 and said they planned in taking him to a 4th of July parade. After that, his adoption fee would have been $1500. We love him, and would never get rid of him, but he has proven to be a handful for my beginner husband. Was perfect on our test ride and two visits!
